Loneliness is the subjective perception of the individual social isolation state, accompanied by the individual perception of their lack of contact with others or isolation caused by the painful experience,is the embodiment of emotional maladjustment.Social adaptability is an important variable in the study of loneliness, and good social adaptation can help individuals have more positive emotional experience and less lonely experience.previous studies have shown a significant correlation between social adaptability and loneliness in adolescents.Compared with the young people with poor social adaptation, the level of loneliness experienced by individuals with good social adaptation is lower, and the social adaptability of individuals with higher levels of loneliness is also worse. But the existing research mainly adopts the horizontal research method, and fails to explore how the two develop and change with time.in view of this, this study used a short-term longitudinal tracing study to examine the causal relationship between loneliness and social adaptability of middle school students.Based on the Social Adaptability Scale for Middle School Students and the UCLA Loneliness Scale compiled by Chen Jianwen and Huang Xiting in 2004,321 middle school students were followed up at intervals of five months(first test at the beginning of two months, after five months of initial test),and the relationship between loneliness and social adaptability was explored by cross-lag method. The study found that:(1)52.3% of junior high school students are in a state of high isolation.(2)There are gender differences in the social adaptability of junior high school students, and the social adaptability of girls is better than that of boys.(3)There are differences in the social adaptability of junior high school students, and the social adaptation of class cadres is lower than that of non-class cadres.(4)There was a significant negative correlation between social adaptability and loneliness in junior high school students.(5)The results of cross-lag analysis showed that the two factors of social adaptability and psychological superiority and psychological energy had a significant predictive effect on the subsequent loneliness, while loneliness had significant predictive effect on the subsequent interpersonal adaptability. Conclusion: Social adaptability is a pre-dependent variable of loneliness. |
