Lifelong education is an important guiding ideology for the reform and development of education,and core literacy is a hot spot of current research.The study first sorts out the relevant researches both at home and abroad by means of literature research,and finds out that the research on teachers' core literacy mainly appears at recent years,which involves the researches on related concepts,the construction of various models of teachers' core literacy,empirical investigation of teachers' core literacy and others.Secondly,the study defines the concept of teachers' core literacy on the basis of existing researches.The lifelong education theory,humanism theory,the theory of teacher professional development and the theory of teachers' competence are used as the theoretical basis.The study builds the model of primary and secondary school teachers' core literacy thinking the characteristics of era and the requirements of teaching profession.The model consists of 3 grade I indexes that are professional literacy,literacy of life and literacy of era.Each index composes of 3 grade II indexes.Then the questionnaire was designed on the basis of the model.After the questionnaire was tested and modified,it was used to investigate the primary and secondary school teachers in Jiangxi Province.The collected data was analyzed by SPSS.It was found that the overall level of core literacy of primary and secondary school teachers in Jiangxi Province was relatively high,yet different types of teachers had different level of literacy.Through an analysis of the data and the current social background,the study concluds that there are some problems in the core literacy of primary and secondary school teachers in Jiangxi Province,which are mainly reflected in the fact that some teachers' professional litracy fail to meet the requirements of quality education,some teachers' literacy of life fail to meet the requirements of social development,and some teachers' literacy of era fail to meet the requirements of the time s' development.Finally,in order to meet the lifelong education's demands for everyone to learn,everywhere to learn,and to learn all the time,the study puts forword strategies from the perspectives of the external power and teachers themselves in learning motivation,learning content and learning methods to improve teachers' core lite-racy,which includes stimulating teachers' learning motivation,providing teachers with learning resoures and grasping learning methofs by teachers themselves.
