Research On Olympic Solidarity

Since its establishment,the Olympic Solidarity(OS)has become an important allocation tool of IOC for special sports fund,through which the IOC provides sustained financial assistance and various types of sports aid programme to all NOCs.It has made a positive contribution to all NOCs and has become an indispensable part of the Olympic Movement.This research has used literature review method,historical research method,and case analysis method.The study closely focused on the development pattern,the operational framework and the allocation system of OS,and conducts a detailed analysis of its related aid programmes.Finally,the research summarizes the characteristics and innovations of the OS aid programmes.1.In accordance with the new changes in different periods of Olympic Movement,Olympic Solidarity,an international sports aid fund,was specially established by the IOC in order to maintain and balance the rights of the Olympic stakeholders.2.Olympic Solidarity is used by the IOC to alleviate the conflicts with NOCs,support the development of sport in various countries,and maintain the normal operation and harmonious unity of the Olympic system.3.The funding source of Olympic Solidarity mostly came from the management,operation,and redistribution of IOC broadcasting revenues.4.For more than a decade,Olympic Solidarity has provided practical assistance mainly through sports aid programmes,redistribution of funds and direct financial allocation,which were in the form of “World Programmes”,“Continental Programmes”and “the IOC Subsidies for Participation in Olympic Games”.5.Olympic Solidarity aid programmes have three different characteristics,such as“various aid content”,“multi aid subject” and “focusing on athlete”.6.Olympic Solidarity is highly consistent with the IOC and the Olympic Agenda2020,highlighting and consolidating the core position of athletes,and also ensuring the sustainable development of the Olympic Movement worldwide.
