It is a key step in the growth process for children to move from the familiar family to society. When children are separated from their parents, they usually undergo negative emotions such as nervousness, panic and irritability, and will be some anxiety emotions.Excessive separation anxiety will hinder the physical and mental development of young children, cause adverse emotional reactions, and affect children's social adaptability.Shyness is a common phenomenon in children's social interaction, which is manifested in the early childhood and is closely related to the mental health development of young children.Psychoanalytic theory suggests that there is a similar working pattern between the level of shyness experienced by individuals in early interpersonal relationships and separation anxiety. Therefore, what are the characteristics of shyness and separation anxiety of junior-class children, what is the relationship between them, and how to put forward the corresponding solutions are the main problems discussed in the current study. The present study use junior-class children as research objects, and a half-year longitudinal study of 210 children was conducted by using Preschool Shyness Scale and Preschool Anxiety Scale. The present study investigated systematically the state of children's shyness and separation anxiety and the collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, difference analysis, correlation analysis and Cross-lagged analysis. The results show that:(1)Junior-class children's separation anxiety have significant differences in native place, whether the only child, father's monthly income and parents' education level. But the differences in gender and maternal monthly income did not reach significant levels.(2)Junior-class children's shyness have significant differences in native place, whether the only child, mother's monthly income. But the differences in gender, father's monthly income and parents' education level did not reach significant levels.(3)Junior-class children's shyness was positively associated with separation anxiety.(4)Time 1 children's shyness can significantly positive predict the relationship between Time 2 separation anxiety, however,Time 1 separation anxiety was not a significant predictor of Time 2children's shyness. In view of the above analysis findings, the present study puts forward corresponding educational Suggestions.First of all,we should pay attention to children's shyness and improve their interpersonal skills.Secondly,we should pay attention to children's mental health and prevent the occurrence of separation anxiety in time.In the end,we should use the influence of shyness on separation anxiety to guide the children's healthy development.
