Research On Security And Coping Strategies Of Core Socialist Values In Colleges And Universities

Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,remarkable achievements have been made in the cultivation and practice of the core socialist values.The “Proposed Core Values” have effectively built up social consensus and won high recognition from the people.However,with the further development of globalization and the transformation of Chinese society,people's sense of values has been increasingly diversified,which brings more challenges to the core socialist values.On the one hand,an open and pluralistic society may incubate some undesirable value orientations including extreme utilitarianism,ideological sluggishness,historical nihilism,extravagance,elusiveness and so on,all of which may erode the dominance of the core socialist values.On the other hand,the great cultural tension brought by the diversified social demands has intensified the confrontation and debate among different values,which may abate the cohesiveness of core socialist values.Universities shoulder the great responsibility of cultivating talents and workers for socialist modernization.Thus,to make the core socialist values mainstream in higher educational institutes is not only related to the overall security of the country but also to national rejuvenation.The investigation and research on the security of the core socialist values in higher educational institutes will be of great theoretical value and practical significance for maintaining political security,ideological security,cultural security,scientific and technological security as well as further consolidating the confidence of values among the youth.From literature review and based on the theory of cultural and ideological security,this thesis illustrates the function and significance of safeguarding the security of university core values.Through learning and interpreting General secretary Xi Jinping's important words on the core socialist values,it summarizes the connotation and requirement of the security of university core values.Then,through questionnaire and field investigation,on the basis of judging the situation of the security of university core values,this thesis further finds out their direct challenges and potential risks,classifies their security problems and searches for their causes.It is found that the security situation of the core socialist values is basically satisfying in collages.University students highly recognize the national political guiding ideology,system and policy.The mainstream values take reason,pragmatism and benefiting the people and nation for orientation.University students think the construction for Proposed Core values of “democracy” and “civilization” should be strengthened continually.Because university students' rights and interests have not been protected with a good manner,they pay more attention to the implementation of the values of “equality” and “justice.” Most of them hope to strengthen the leading role the core socialist values have played,as well as innovate the construction of socialist spiritual civilization.In addition,the values of young students are not stable completely,which is mainly reflected by the following aspects: different groups have various cognition of utilitarian values and their own values are easily influenced by social reality and foreign cultures.Education on fine traditional Chinese culture,ideal and faith is not enough,which cause the weak links in the security of university core values.University students show strong tolerance and openness to some of the harmful fashionable values,which may turn out to be risks and hidden dangers.Therefore,it is necessary to place emphasis to risks and challenges which the security of socialism core values would face in university.Last but not the least,there are some countermeasures and suggestions to maintain the security of university core values put forward in this paper.In order to adapt to the more free and open University environment,the research suggests that we should carry out the security project of the socialist core values of the university,build an active security mechanism based on early warning of cultural security,and improve the passive security mechanism based on guidance,cushion and education.To ameliorate campus cultural environment,we should strengthen the edification of excellent traditional culture,carry forward the spirit of volunteerism,improve the non-traditional safety education in universities and further optimize the ethics of teachers.It is necessary to give full play to the subjective initiative of university students,improve the resilience of university students' values,strengthen the legal system to guarantee the internship and employment of college students,earnestly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of students,thus creating a safer environment for the construction of core socialist values in universities.
