Under the backdrop of promoting "Craftsmanship Spirit",China as a big country is on its way of fulfilling the grand blueprints of "Made in China 2025" and "Made in China 2035”.Vocational education,which is mainly aimed to train high-caliber,skilled and applied talents,has been attracting attention from the society and the state,and the newly released national policy of vocational education has highlighted the integration of industry and education as a key strategy.The integration of industry and education has become an essential educational approach for training vocational talents,who acts as the key factor for elevating the quality of Chinese workers and contributing to high-quality economic development.However,the lack of them also becomes the bottleneck that hinders the development of vocational development.Huang Yanpei is the pioneer of the vocational education in modern China,and his theoretical studies and successful practices of vocational education took the initiative to greatly promote the progress of vocational education in modern China,indicating a significant impact.The school-enterprise cooperation he proposed is the origin of "the integration of industry and education" today,and though this term was missing back then,Huang's educational practices paved the road for the development of such integration in the vocational education.Nevertheless,Huang's pioneering thoughts on "the integration of industry and education" were scattered in his works,articles,diaries and vocational education practices,without any systematic records.Therefore,no one ever had a clear summary of his thoughts.As things stand,urgent solutions are needed to address the dilemma confronting the development of vocational education in China.By verifying and summarizing Huang's thoughts on the integration of industry and education,this study brings the century-old treasure back to the public for a valuable reference to the solution of current challenges in vocational education,which constitutes the major significance of this study.Based on literature review,this study touches upon a wide range of Huang's articles,archives,periodicals of the ROC period,historical record collection,contemporary academic compositions,and research articles.Meanwhile,Huang's efforts in establishing Chinese vocational education club and school factories are traced to discuss certain details,refine the connotations of his thoughts of the integration of industry and education,and verify the background and path of thought origin.Based on questionnaire and interview,it investigates the integration of industry and education in 50 vocational schools.Case analysis is conducted to have a comprehensive and accurate understanding of the issues and causes regarding the integration of industry and education in Chinese vocational schools.Huang's thoughts on the integration are utilized for the first time to probe into the issues today.Specifically,it refers to Huang's thoughts of "study to apply","combine practices with learning","rely on both physical and mental ability","receive expert guidance","grand vocational education","consistent system of junior college","vocational culture" and other century-old successful practices.Plus,the current development status of Chinese vocational education is borne in mind to put forward complete thinking for the integration of industry and education,which is aimed to revitalize Huang's thoughts on the integration of industry and education and provide inspirations to the development of Chinese vocational education.
