Postil reading is a very practical reading method.It allows students to go deeper into the text,communicate with the soul of authors,and express the personalized standpoint for the text.The postil reading evolved from comments,which profoundly contains the cultural connotation of the Chinese nation,and is in line with the concept of the new curriculum reform.It respects the subject status of students,advocates the spirit of dialogue,and values the self-experience of students.Through distributing questionnaires,interviewing teachers,and analyzing texts,this paper aims to search after the problems of elementary students in postil reading.It also put forward guiding strategies for teachers to help elementary students to develop postil reading.It is hoped that it will be beneficial to teachers.The paper consists of three parts:The first part is the basic concepts and significance of postil reading.This paper combines the existing literature to clearly define the concepts of postil and postil reading.Based on the theory of postil reading,this paper sort out the different types of postil reading from the form of postil,the content of the postil,the position of the postil,and the time of the postil.It is also explain the important value of postil reading in respecting the personalized reading of primary school students,improving their ability to select materials and speech,enhancing their critical ability,and cultivating their divergent thinking.The second part is the survey and analysis of the status of elementary students' postil reading and teacher's guiding.Through questionnaires,teacher interviews,and text analysis,this paper found that there are some problems in the practice of postil reading for elementary school students,such as lacking postil methods,neglecting speech form and lacking deep thinking.Teachers also have some misunderstandings in guiding pupils to carry out postil reading,including lack of systematic guidance on postil methods,neglecting the cultivation of students' interest,and the inability to make detailed evaluations and timely feedback on student'postil.The third part is the effective strategies for teachers to guide pupils to develop postil reading.Based on the existing research in the academic world,this paper provided guiding strategies to teachers from the aspects of stimulating interest,highlighting the key point of different grades,teaching methods,expending extracurricular reading and putting forward comments.It is hoped that it will be beneficial to teachers.
