At present,as the country pays more and more attention to improving citizens' scientific literacy,the level of citizens' scientific literacy is continuously improving,but there is still a big gap with developed countries.Teenagers are the key group to improve the national scientific literacy.Therefore,how to improve the scientific literacy of teenagers is one of the important goals of the new curriculum reform.Biology popular science books,as an important resource to improve scientific literacy,provide beneficial help for the development of students and are of great significance to junior high school biology teaching.Through literature review,this study discusses the current situation of the teaching of popular science books at home and abroad.On this basis,it defines the core concepts and puts forward the theoretical basis of the study.In addition,through a questionnaire survey,the current situation of applying popular science biology reading materials to junior high school biology teaching was investigated.The results of the questionnaire survey show that there are some problems such as the insufficient use of popular biology reading materials in teaching and the lack of popular biology reading for both teachers and students.Therefore,aiming at the problems reflected in the questionnaire and the previous research experience,this study puts forward the principles of applying popular science biology reading materials in teaching,including scientific,interesting,appropriate and relevant.On this basis,this study collected and obtained some biological popular science reading materials for teachers and students through visits to bookstores and libraries and by means of abundant network resources.At the same time,in order to give full play to the educational value of popular science books on biology,based on the analysis of a large number of documents,this study puts forward strategies for the application of popular science books on biology in teaching,mainly including optimizing teaching language,assisting in exploring new knowledge,innovating assignment forms,compiling test questions and other strategies.Finally,in order to demonstrate the practical significance of the study,this study selects Jinan edition junior high school biology content design teaching case and carries on the teaching practice.The interview method was used to test the teaching effect of applying popular science books in biology.The results show that the application of popular biology reading materials in junior high school biology teaching can improve students' interest in learning,meet students' learning and life needs,and help improve students' scientific literacy.Through the above research,it is shown that biology popular science books have strong curriculum development.It is feasible and necessary to apply biology popular science reading materials in junior high school biology teaching,which is of great significance to promote students' development,implement the requirements of new curriculum reform and develop curriculum resources.
