A Comparative Study Of Swimming In Primary And Secondary Schools In Xiamen,China And Cairns,Australia

Swimming as a necessary survival skills and fitness for long-term physical exercise projects,which is paid particular attention in developed countries' school sports.In recent years also gradually attracted the attention of school sports in China.By using the methods of documentation,expert interview,field investigation and comparative analysis,this paper takes public primary and secondary schools in Xiamen City of China and Cairns City of Australia as the main research objects,takes school education as the theoretical basis,makes a comparative analysis of the factors that constitute swimming in primary and secondary schools in the two cities,as well explores the advantages and disadvantages of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen City of China.In this paper,we put forward some feasible suggestions to promote swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China.The results are as follows:Through the comparative study of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China and Cairns,Australia,it is found that the advantages of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen City of China are as follows:(1)The call of the state and local governments for sports and the "Zhongkao"——"Swimming in the Middle School Entrance Examination" policy have promoted the development of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen.(2)Some of the primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China,which have their own independent swimming facilities are in excellent condition.(3)The swimming competitions held and participated regularly by primary and secondary school students in Xiamen,China in recent years have promoted the school swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen.(4)Traditional schools with swimming characteristics in Xiamen,China have formed school-running characteristics,promoted the development of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,and grow more effectively transported reserve talents for competitive swimming.The problems of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China are as follows:(1)The Swimming Curriculum in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China has not yet been popularized,.The curriculum objectives are not clear and unified,and the development situation is uneven.(2)China's national and local governments of Xiamen have not yet promulgated policies for swimming in primary and secondary schools,so that Xiamen's primary and secondary schools lack vitality,motivation and support for swimming.(3)The planning and management of swimming facilities in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen City are not in place,and the utilization rate of swimming facilities in existing primary and secondary schools is low.(4)The lack of swimming teachers in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China,and the uneven level of resources,the lack of human resources management and rational delivery are the problems affect the quality of teaching.The following suggestions are put forward for the conclusion of the study:(1)On the basis of existing policies,the state and local governments of China should make unified requirements for swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,.Establish unified standards,and firstly guide and help primary and secondary schools in Xiamen to open and popularize swimming courses in schools.(2)On the basis of requiring primary and secondary schools to offer swimming courses,the Xiamen government has to gradually popularized swimming courses,established unified and clear curriculum plans and standards,supervised their implementation and incorporated them into the assessment.Set "Water Safety" as the goal of the curriculum.The main comment of the curriculum should include cultivating interest in swimming,helping students be familiar to water,and water safety.(3)In order to start and develop swimming sports and courses in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen,China,basic swimming facilities should be constructed and managed to improve the utilization rate of facilities.(4)In order to make sure the development of swimming in primary and secondary schools in Xiamen and the popularization of swimming courses in schools,and to ensure the quality of teaching,the quality of swimming teachers should be strictly controlled.
