In recent years,interdisciplinary research and educational activities have received increasing attention from high-level research universities in China.Tsinghua University and Peking University have established a number of interdisciplinary colleges and research centers specializing in interdisciplinary research and educational activities.Accumulated a number of interdisciplinary research and interdisciplinary postgraduate training experience.However,as a whole,the interdisciplinary postgraduate education in China is still in the initial stage,and there are still corresponding problems.Therefore,this study draws on the successful experience of interdisciplinary postgraduate training at Stanford University,in order to provide useful benefits for the reform of interdisciplinary postgraduate education in China.This study takes "What are the characteristics of interdisciplinary postgraduate training at Stanford University" as a research question,and uses the case study method to collect and collate the relevant literature on interdisciplinary postgraduate training at Stanford University,and secondly from who to train(ie,training objectives),how to training(ie,training pathway)and how to guarantee(ie,guarantee mechanism)to explore the law and characteristics of interdisciplinary postgraduate training at Stanford University.Through the above research,we can draw the following conclusions: Stanford University's interdisciplinary postgraduate training objectives are diversified and clear;the training channels are flexible and diverse;the guarantee mechanism is “soft and hard”.Aiming at the problems existing in the process of interdisciplinary postgraduate training in China,we can get useful enlightenment from the training characteristics of Stanford University.For example,China should formulate the goal of cultivating talents that reflect "knowledge","going","love" and "ideal".Promote the all-round development of students;expand the training channels to meet the individual needs of students;improve the guarantee mechanism and provide all-round support.
