With the rapid development of social economy and the state's requirements for the transformation and upgrading of education and personnel training,the traditional teaching concept,teaching method and teaching organization form have not been able to meet the requirements of the society for the development of talents and human resources.It is necessary to reform the ‘mass production' teaching mode and teaching method caused by large-size class,and to explore new educational models and methods.Advocating people-oriented development of education is the ultimate goal of the current educational cause in our country,which puts human personality development in the first place and highlights the cultivation of innovative thinking and innovative ability.In recent years,the class size of middle schools in rural areas has been decreasing along with the migration of parents to the cities and towns.Faced with this situation,in order to make the current rural education resources play a greater role and achieve the education purpose and teaching objectives of comprehensively development of the the students' comprehensive quality.in this study,a traditional large class and a small class with 30 students were selected to conduct a comparative research on the experimental reform of traditional teaching mode and small-class teaching,so as to explore the diversified and personalized teaching methods and effects of small-class teaching.This paper takes NO.140 class(30 students)of grade 7 as the research object of small-class teaching,and NO.141 regular classes(45 students)as control.On this practice study basis,comparative research and theoretical analysis are carried out on the effect of small-class biology teaching in rural junior middle schools.After a year of practical research on biology teaching in small class,through process observation,questionnaire survey and data statistics,the results showed that the experimental class students' interest in biology,enthusiasm and activity in biology class are greatly improved.The passing rate(full mark rate)of the terminal examination of the experimental class students was 23.34% higher than that of the control class students,and the academic performance at the end of the school year was significantly better than that of the control class studengts.Through the implementation of small-class teaching methods,students' learning initiative,enthusiasm,problem-solving ability,experimental skills and ability to cooperate withothers have been improved in class,which is conducive to the overall development of each student's personality.The research results provide a useful reference for the implementation of small class biology teaching in rural junior middle schools.
