With the continuous improvement of China's international status and economic strength,the practice of international Chinese education has flourished in various countries.To a certain extent,Chinese culture teaching is not restricted by learners' Chinese level,but it is still in the subsidiary position of language teaching.It is mostly carried out in the form of cultural activities and has not formed in a scientific and systematic curriculum system.Therefore,to strengthen the research in related fields is conducive,can help enhancing learners' understanding and recognition of Chinese culture and promoting their overall development of Chinese language ability.Taking Chatswood Public Primary School as an example,this paper studies and designs thematic cultural curriculum from the following parts:In the first chapter,the introduction demonstrates the feasibility and necessity of this study in terms of the reason and significance of the topic selection.It classifies the contents of the early relevant literature in order to make a retrospective summary for further research,and elaborates the relevant theoretical basis and research methods.Chapter two analyses the background of Chinese education in Australia by studying the Australian educational system,and investigates the volunteer teachers of Confucius Institute of New South Wales Ministry of Education,and also investigates the students of Chatswood Public School by questionnaires and interviews.In the third chapter,according to the above investigation and the learning conditions of the students in the public primary schools whose mother tongue is English,designed a theme-based cultural courses and semester-based cultural term are designed,the practical operation and evaluation of the courses are carried out,and the corresponding suggestions for cultural teaching are put forward.Chapter four summarizes the results of the study,and reflects on the shortcomings and prospects.
