China entered a transitive Period after 1978 because of the policy of “Reform & Opening”,which caused the flow of labor force of rural areas to urban area by leaps and bounds.Their Children,who were still left in rural areas,became left-behind children.The mental fitness of this special group is urgently needed to be given attention and improvement.During this process,proper parent-child communication in family education plays a crucial role in improving mental deficiency and bettering mental fitness.In techniques of questionnaires,this survey mainly studys the relations between parent-child communication and mental deficiency of left-behind children in Chinese rural area by utilizing the questionnaires of “Questionnaires of Parent-Children Communication” by Wang Shuqing in 2006 and “Self-Evaluation of Mental-Deficiency in Terms of Primary School students by Lin Xiaoying” in 2008 to students of Grade 5 and Grade 6,including 244 left-behind children and 156 non-left-behind children.The following are the results questionnaires:1?The features of parent-child communication: Compared with the obvious effect of gender,the features of parent-child communication don't show prominent differences which are influenced by factors of grades,family situations and studying performances.Compared with boys,girls tend to communicate with their mothers more frequently.2?The features of mental deficiency :When it come to the students from Grade 5 and Grade 6 in rural primary schools,their mental deficiency are much more affected by grades than their genders,family situation and studying performance.Left-behind children 6 show more anxiety,allergy,impulsion than those of Grade 6.3? The relationship between parent-child communication and mental deficiency of the left-behind children of Grade 5 and Grade 6 in rural primary school.As for left-behind children of Grade 5 and Grade 6,their mental deficiency are highly influenced by parent-child communication.Apparently,proper and effective measures should be taken to improve parent-child communication which is fairly beneficial to alleviate mental deficiency and improve mental fitness.During the process of parent-child communication,if father-child communication can be improved,the efficiency of parent-child communication will become better and better.Comparing with the regression analysis between left-behind children and non-left-behind children about the relationship of parent-child communication and mental deficiency,The results showed that the communication with the father entered the regression equation.On the basis of the study of the characteristics and the relationship between parent-child communication and mental deficiency of the left-behind children of Grade 5 and Grade 6 in rural primary school,the corresponding educational countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.
