| As one of the birthplaces of the Chinese people,Shanxi Province has a long history and unique geographical environment,which has created a rich local and traditional sports culture.However,with the advent of the information age,the impact of Western culture and the weakening of self-awareness,many local traditional sports are now facing the risk of oblivion.Local schools played key role in the preservation of traditional sports,receiving governmental support and subsidies,nonetheless face realistic difficulties,such as the shortage of teachers,the rigid mentality of principals and parents,and the heavy academic burden imposed on students.This paper utilized the methodology of literature review,questionnaire,analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and case studies.It focuses on the current situation and development bottleneck of the traditional sports education in Shanxi local schools.In the context of national education reform,on the basis to carry forward local and traditional sports culture,to develop school-based curriculum,and to cultivation of students’ interests on sports,this paper investigates and analyzes the current situation of the traditional sports education in Shanxi local schools.The first step includes initial selection of indicators that hinder the development of school-based sports.Then,the indicators were scored and screened by the Delphi method.After three rounds of index screening,the indicators of the study were finally determined.In order to find the most important factors that hinder its development,the analytic hierarchy process is used to compare the indicators in pairs and determine the weights of each indicator.The results show that the main factors hindering the development of the local and traditional sports in Shanxi Province are the lack of mandatory national policies,the unfavorable implementation of local education departments,the lack of awareness of school leaders,the lack of professional training of teachers,the narrow learning channels for teachers,the drawbacks of teachers evaluation system,the limitations of the education system,the lack of initiatives in the introduction of the curriculum,the lack of understanding of the local people in Shanxi,the lack of authority of the textbooks,the lack of transformation of textbooks,and the lack of diversity in the introduction of sports.From the actual investigation and analysis,we can also understand: 1.Lack of mandatory national policies 2.Local education authorities are not paying enough attention 3.Local education authorities are not paying enough attention 4.Lack of professional training for traditional physical education teacherswith local characteristics 5.Limitations of the existing education system.Based on the current situation,the author puts forward a set of practical improvement measures: 1.National policies should be mandatory.2.Urban primary and secondary schools as a breakthrough.3.Establish a sound evaluation system.4.We will establish a sound mechanism for training traditional sports teachers with local characteristics 5.Developing more traditional sports with local characteristics.6.Inclusion in the scope of entrance examinations.7.The establishment of local and traditional sports campus tour. |
