Research On The Cultivating Of Talents In Higher Education Program And Characteristics In American

The cultivating of talents in higher education program is an important aspect to improve the level of higher education research and promote the discipline construction of higher education.As the earliest country in the world to cultivate higher education professionals,it has so far had specific objectives in the cultivating of talents,all degree types,diverse research directions and abundant curriculum settings.It has the characteristics of the largest scale,complete system and wide influence.After nearly four decades of development,the cultivating of talents in higher education program in China has been growing rapidly,but there are still many problems.It is urgent to sort out and draw lessons from the experience of the cultivating of talents in higher education program in American.Therefore,this study takes the cultivating of talents in higher education program of American as the research object,combs the development process of the cultivating of talents of American higher education program in detail by applying the methods of historical research,literature research and comparative research,clearly presents the current situation of the cultivating of talents,highly summarizes its characteristics,and then put up with some effective suggestions for the reforms the cultivating of talents in higher education program in our country.The history of the cultivating of talents in American higher education program can be traced back to 1893.After nearly 120 years of development and evolution,the cultivating of talents in higher education program in American has gone through four stages,showing three characteristics: practice-oriented,research-oriented and interdisciplinary.After collecting and sorting out the information of 239 American higher education programs and the cultivating of talents.It is found that the current situation of the cultivating of talents is as follows: Firstly,in terms of the number of programs,the quantity is huge,accounting for more than 53% of the world’s total;the regional distribution is uneven,and the number of programs in the eastern part of American is the largest;the affiliated universities are mainly doctoral and master’s degree-conferring universities,gathering to high-level universities.Secondly,in terms of degree,there are seven types of degrees,including two doctoral degrees,accounting for 64.4%,five master’s degrees,accounting for 35.6%,and focusing on doctoral talents cultivation;the degree types include academic type(48.5%),professional type(29.7%),academic and professional type(21.8%).Thirdly,in terms of research directions,there are many research directions,such as,Student Affairs,Higher Education Administration,Leadership and Policy,Teaching and Community College are the main research directions(97.6%).Fourthly,in terms of curriculum setting,there are more than 6,000 courses.The main types of courses are mainly subject content,management,specific fields of higher education.Based on the analysis of the historical evolution and current situation of the cultivating of talents in higher education program in America.It is found that the characteristics of the cultivating of talents are as follows: diversified objectives of the cultivating of talents,scientific and rational curriculum system,characteristic methods of the cultivating of talents,interdisciplinary and practice-oriented in the cultivating of talents,strict standards and quality certification system.Based on the research on the cultivating of talents in higher education program in American,the following suggestions are put forward for our country.First,clearing objectives of the cultivating of talents.Clarifying the subject orientation,interdisciplinary and practical orientation of the cultivating of talents.Second,improving the practice-oriented talents cultivation system.Improving the degree system,curriculum system and structure,talent cultivation methods.
