School readiness refers to the key characteristics or underlying conditions that necessary needed by preschool children to be able to benefit from the upcoming formal school education.Preliminary conceptualizations of ecological model were proposed by NEGP(National Education Goals Panel),this study explores the situation of the school readiness of students in special school from the perspective of family.This study consists of three parts:Firstly,based on the existing measurement,this study established a questionnaire of school readiness of students in special school.Secondly,this study used Descriptive Statistics,Multivariate Analysis of Variance and Correlation Analysis to investigated special needs children's school readiness and how family environment factors affects it.Thirdly,by means of personal interview with parents of students in special school,this study tried to find out what constitutes the reasons for the children who have better development,analyze the features of the home environment of children who have high school readiness so as to find out the favorable factors promoting children's school readiness.The main results indicated(1)The“Questionnaire of School Readiness of students in special school" made for physical well-being and motor development,cognition and general knowledge,language development,learning approach,social and emotional development.The reliability and the validity of the questionnaire met the standard of the psychometrical requirements,implying it can be used to evaluate the of school readiness of students in special school(2)Overall,the level of school readiness of students in special school is above the medium level,the dimension scores from high to low in the order is physical well-being and motor development,social and emotional development,cognition and general knowledge,language development and learning approach(3)School readiness situation of special needs students are significantly different in their disable levels.The more special needs students disorder were mild,the better school readiness they had.School readiness level of students with intellectual disabilities was higher than students with autism,school readiness level of students with cerebral palsy is the lowest(4)Parents' education level affected students' school readiness.Parents with high-educated families(parental qualifications above graduate students)have the best school readiness in the field of social and emotional development.The school readiness in the same field of parents with low-educated families(fathers' education level is junior high school and below,and the mothers' education level is high school or secondary school)is second only to parents with highly educated families(5)Family income affected student s' school readiness.School readiness of special needs students from high-income families(with a monthly income of more than 20,000 yuan)are better than other families in terms of physical health and motor skills and cognitive and general knowledge.School readiness of students from low-income families(with a monthly income of under 3,000 yuan or between 3001 to 5000 yuan)are better in term of verbal ability than other families.(6)Family structure affected students',school readiness.School readiness of special needs students from two-parent family was better than that in single-parent families in terms of physical health and motor skills.(7)School Readiness of students in special school was affected by the family environment.And it have significant positive correlations with language/cognition,emotional warmth/self-expression,social adaptation/self-care,activity diversity/game participation and environmental atmosphere.School Readiness has a significant negative correlation with punishment/intervene/neglect,with the highest correlation with social adaptation/self-care.(8)Social adaptation/self-care and activity diversity/game participation have a predictive effect on School Readiness of students in special school,The social adaptation is the most predictive of the school readiness.Based on the above results,the study suggested that support should be provided from the policy aspect for family to improve school readiness,and parents themselves should pay attention to the school readiness for student in special school.
