Self-confidence is a significant factor for everyone to form an optimistic and positive attitude.Confident people will be optimistic and positive in daily life, and they often have the courage to face difficulties and challenges. In the process of rapid social transformation in our country,a large number of young rural laborers have moved to cities, and a large number of left-behind children have emerged.Because of the lack of family support system and the less effective family education, these children are more likely to form their bad self-cognition,which leads to their inferior and diffident mentality.Social work can help left-behind children to improve their self-confidence and form a correct self-awareness and good self-identity with their professional service methods. In this study,we recognize the self-confidence of left-behind children who leave in Y village by distributing questionnaire and using the pre-test of the scale. Some problems which exist in left-behind children have concluded by reflection of score of pre-test in scale and result of the questionnaire include:(1).Self-awareness is unclear and self-identity is poor;(2).they lack of a comprehensive view of their own vision, ignore their own advantages;(3).The willingness to express themselves is weak and they are not willing to express themselves in the public.Based on the above problems, social workers are guided by the strengths perspective theory and social learning theory. They have targeted intervention strategies for research objects, and use group work methods to conduct practical research on the self-confidence of left-behind children in Y village, thus helping them overcome inferiority and form positive self-awareness and a good sense of self-identity to enhance self-confidence andencourage them to learn to look at themselves and others with strengths and appreciation. All these subjects were re-evaluated at the end of the group activities and the results showed that all the members in the experimental group had reached their improvements in self-cognition,self-expression and comprehensive understanding of themselves, and that they had significant enhancement in self-confidence and turned themselves from common inferiority to self-confident.Therefore,the group work is a efficient method in enhancing the self-confidence of left-behind children in rural areas.
