The comprehensive development of students is inseparable from the educational role of geography,and geography has also occupied an important position in the current college entrance examination.In the junior high school,the geography course generally lasts for two years,while the high school is continuous study for three years,so that the entire middle school stage has five years of geography learning.However,after five years of geography learning,a large number of students have not yet mastered the systematic geography knowledge,and have not been able to effectively use the acquired geographical knowledge to contribute to a better life.So why did it lead to such a result?The author mainly investigates the situation of geography teaching and learning in high school.Based on the new curriculum standards,the author thinks about how to effectively promote students’ geography learning and how to effectively cultivate students’ geographical ability,thus promoting the development of geography effective teaching.This paper is mainly based on the investigation and analysis of the problems in the effective teaching of geography in the high school stage.After understanding the problems existing in geography teaching,the author puts forward some corresponding solutions through consulting teachers and self-thinking,hoping to contribute to the development of geography teaching.The problems found in the survey mainly include the following aspects: poor geographic observation ability and lack of experience in geography in life;neglect of understanding of important geographical concepts and incomplete understanding of geographical concepts;classroom teaching form is single and students are easily distracted;the teaching process neglects the connection of knowledge and the knowledge possessed by the students is single;the importance of the knowledge of the map is ignored,but the role of the tools is neglected,and the lack of geographical practice leads to the incompatibility of theory and practice.In general,there is still much room for improvement in the current teaching and learning process of middle school geography.The promulgation of the new curriculum standards in 2017 means that the requirements for geography teaching are more clear,and the requirements for student abilities are becoming more specific.In addition,the development of the new college entrance examination and the development of geography education and the cultivation of contemporary citizens and so on have high hopes for geography teaching.The author hopes that students can have a certain geographical ability through geography learning,and can effectively transport geographical knowledge to create a better life.After summarizing the current problems of geography teaching and learning,the author analyzes the problems in this process by consulting the electronic literature of related books,and the communication and discussion with geography teachers.The author puts forward the following main solutions to the existing problems:strengthening the life geography education to effectively enhance the students’ geographical application ability;paying attention to the effective teaching of the concept to promote the basic principles and laws of geography;enriching the teaching resources to effectively enhance the interest of geography teaching;attach importance to the connection of knowledge and effectively enhance the deep learning of knowledge;pay attention to the use of maps to effectively play the role of tools;pay attention to theeffective practice of geography practice teaching to cultivate students’ geographical practice.
