Raising and normalization of Online Education become an inevitable trend.Not only educational services but also the participants,teachers and students,start to value the E-learning analytics.To make the E-Learning Analytics serve the teaching and studying better,from the visualization design aspect,this paper discusses how to use the visualizing methods to design learning analytics.First,the paper specifies the conception of E-learning analytics and information visualization,defining Learning Analytics Dashboard(LAD)as a carrier of visualizing learning analytics and studying design applications of LAD.The project concludes the process model of E-learning analytics,pointing out that analysis of online learning activities should base on guiding students to positive alter.Integrating with common features of learning analytics and visualization,this paper offers the judgement criterion of position,visual representation,comprehension,cognition efficiency,action drivers and human-computer interaction.it cites the cross-fields achievements constructing a design theory system on E-learning analytics.Second,this paper clarifies types and features of information of learning analytics via the theory study,utilize the achievements of previous studies on human visual cognition and build the path from information contents of learning analytics to visual elements.According to the application status of LAD,this paper classifies learning analytics into four aspects:learning behavior,learning content,learning network and learning ability.The general visualization mode is sorted out as comparison,trend,distribution and structure.The commonly used information charts are sorted out in turn,and a visual design theory is applied to the presentation of LAD.Then,via the research of users,this paper classifies the learners into active type,developmental type and marginal type,analyzing needs of learners with different features and capabilities of using LAD to aid study.Further,this paper evaluates design principles,usage scenarios and interaction on LAD,offers the significant strategy of LAD design,points out the solution to existing problems which are diversified visual representation,full information interpretation and appropriate action-driven.Among strategies,this paper creatively shows the Interaction model including achievement satisfaction,information display,chart teaching and action guidance based on Logic of Behaviors to guide the visualization of information organization in the visual layer of the learning dashboard interface.In the end,this paper designs and tests the LAD,discussing the real-time and stage display opportunities.Dashboard contains 9 components,tentatively designing emotion,which is using virtual plants as awards.From the results of questionnaires and interviews,this LAD design has high usability,readability and above-average drive,which is approved by other scholars,and sheds light on design of learning information and learning analytics.
