During the period of the Republic of China,social problems were complicated.A group of advanced intellectuals took the rebuilding of rural areas as a breakthrough to find a way to save the country.Yang Xuanchun,a rural educator,absorbed Tao Xingzhi's and Liang Shuming's ideas of rural education theory and rural construction theory and adhered to the 'heroic endurance principle'.He was engaged in educational practice for a long time in Xiaozhuang,Zouping,Huanglu and other places,thus concluded a series of rural education and construction theory that takes the reform of rural people's life as the core,namely Life Education Theory for Local Villagers.Yang Xiaochun believes that the cultivation of life educators who can 'promote society and organize the village' is the foundation for the development of Life Education Theory for Local Villagers.Horizontally,life education for local villagers is based on the rural life education network.From a vertical perspective,life education provides life guidance for local villages in the form of Monitorial system that contains teaching students by students' and 'guiding people by people',in order to cope with the shortage of rural educational resources.Life Education Theory for Local Villagers aims at the shaping of fully developed person and the concordance structure,and carries out activities simultaneously through various educational channels.The shaping of fully developed person focuses on 'keeping healthy and getting rich' and 'seeking wisdom and learning well'.While spreading modern scientific knowledge to villagers,health education also organized health associations,built sports infrastructure constructions,provided medical services,and improved the physical and health level of villagers.Economy education not only boosted grain production capacity,but also organized effective forms of economic cooperation in rural areas to help villagers overcome economic difficulties with scientific methods.Cultural and spiritual education played a role in popularizing scientific and cultural knowledge,improving moral quality and patriotism for people,in order to help villagers to achieve fully development.The construction of the concordance structure mainly focuses on the relationship between people and people,people and society,people and nature in rural areas.It takes'combination of teaching,learning and doing' as the concept,leading people by setting examples or making use of leisure education and civil education to teach the local villagers to live,communicate,and to cooperate,and helps people rebuild villages in a harmonious atmosphere.The life education theory for local villagers originates from Tao Xingzhi's rural education theory,but it also has innovation on the existing foundation.It is influenced by Liang Shuming's rural construction theory,but they are different in essence.In the educated areas,the proposal of the life education theory for local villagers had changed people's life concept and rural social image to some extention,and embodied the power of social education.Although the pure educational method,without any practicability and generality,is too fragile to solve rural problems radically,it is also an attemption on modern rural reform with the trend of social progress,and can do help to the practice of the construction of Chinese new socialist countryside.
