Since the late 1990 s,some industries in eastern China began to transfer to inland areas because of the decline of marginal efficiency of investment, the increase of factor costs and the rigid constraints of energy and resources. At the same time, the trend of continuous high-intensity concentration of population from inland areas to coastal areas has changed, the phenomenon of agricultural labor return in the central region has been increasing. With the new changes of population migration and industrial transfer, the matching degree between them and the impact of population migration and industrial transfer on regional economic disparity deserve further discussion. This study analyzes the spatial pattern of population migration and industrial transfer using the data of population, manufacturing industry and social economy from 2000 to 2016,and judges the spatial matching between them by the gravity center model. On this basis,an economic convergence model embedded in spatial measurement is constructed to analyze the impact of population migration and industrial transfer on regional economic disparity. The results show that: 1)Since the 21 st century, the pattern of population migration and manufacturing transfer has shown a trend of that the inland areas rise, coastal area decrease. However, the population reflow is lagging behind the manufacturing inward movement, and the change tracks of them shows a relationship characterized by deviation and convergence from the comparative analysis of the trajectory of the center of gravity.2)China's regional economic disparity tends to "expand and then narrow" with 2005 as the demarcation point from 2000 to 2016.Interregional disparity is the main contribution part of the total disparity with keeping the same trend as the total disparity, and intraregional disparity decreases slightly during the study period.3)Spatial econometric regression analysis shows that regional economic development has convergence.Population migration and industrial transfer are the factors affecting convergence.Industrial transfer contributes to narrow the regional economic gap.Energy-intensive manufacturing and technology-intensive manufacturing industries have a significant effect on the economic growth of underdeveloped areas and narrows the regional economic gap effectively. When the factor of population migration is introduced, the comprehensive effect of population migration and industrial migration is weaken the speed of economic convergence, but it is still play a positive role in promoting the narrowing of regional economic disparity.Based on the research results, this study puts forward some policy suggestions to promote the migration of population and industry to inland areas, such as expanding the flowing channel of population, implementing the policy of talent introduction, following the law of industrial transfer, giving play to the guiding role of the government, combining the advantages of regional resources, and forming local characteristic industries. The regional economic gap will be gradually narrowed by increasing the flow of population and industry to undeveloped areas.
