In the process of learning Chinese,some students of secondary vocational classes in Xinjiang will encounter some problems.How to solve these problems and find out the causes of these problems are the topic we will study.This paper examines the Chinese reading of Uighur students in Xinjiang through three studies.Research I investigated the status quo of Uygur students' Chinese learning in Xinjiang by questionnaire.The study found that in the aspect of Chinese learning,Uygur students in Xinjiang have prominent problems in pronunciation,grammar,vocabulary,mastering Chinese characters and understanding sentences.The second study uses the Eyelink 1000 plus eye tracker.The reading level is a between-subjects factor,divided into two levels,to investigate the differences between the upper and lower skill readers of Xinjiang Uygur people in eye movement indicators.The results showed that low-skilled readers spent more time in total reading,read more slowly and stared longer on average than high-skilled readers.The third study uses the Eyelink 1000 plus eye tracker as the tool to study the perceptual breadth of upper and lower skill readers of Xinjiang Uygur students with the moving window paradigm.The study founds that the reading speed increased gradually with the improvement of reading level,the average gaze time decreased gradually with the improvement of reading level,and the right eye hop distance and the average eye hop distance decreased gradually with the improvement of reading level.This study mainly uses eye movement recording method to measure the reading differences between Uyghur vocational secondary school students with high and low skills when reading Chinese,and draws the following conclusions:1.In the questionnaire survey,it is found that Xinjiang Uygur students have problems in pronunciation,mastery of Chinese characters,vocabulary,sentence understanding and grammar in the dimension of Chinese character learning;2.There are significant differences in the total reading time,reading speed and average gaze time of Xinjiang Uygur students with high and low skills;3.The reading perception span of highly skilled readers of Xinjiang Uygur students is 2-3 characters on the right side,while that of low-skilled readers of Xinjiang Uygur students is 1-2 characters on the right side.
