| In recent years,the Chinese language teaching industry has flourished in Scotland.The Confucius Institute run by Hanban plays a pivotal role in Chinese teaching in Britain.A growing number of primary and secondary schools in Scotland offer Chinese courses,while Chinese teachers are mainly delivered by Confucius Institutes.Chinese language teaching in Scottish primary and secondary schools is currently facing many problems.Most primary and secondary schools in the UK do not have a Chinese syllabus,and Chinese teachers lack a reference for teaching.The author is a volunteer at the Confucius Institute of the University of Aberdeen and worked as a Chinese teacher at Glashieburn primary School from September 2017 to July 2018.The Aberdeen council initially produced a Chinese language syllabus in 2014,and all primary schools cooperating with the Confucius institute of the university of Aberdeen teach Chinese according to the syllabus.Based on the syllabus,this paper analyzes the topics and vocabulary involved,and combines the author’s teaching practice at Glashieburn primary School to analyze the shortcomings of the syllabus and put forward Suggestions.There are six chapters in this paper:the first chapter combs the domestic and foreign research on Chinese teaching syllabus.As the Chinese syllabus is mainly compiled according to the language learning policy of Scotland,the second chapter introduces the language learning policy of Scotland and its related requirements.It also states the relationship between the Confucius Institute of the University of Aberdeen and Glashieburn primary school.This chapter also introduces the basic situation and Chinese teaching situation of Glashieburn primary school,and analyzes some teaching phenomena and problems in actual teaching.In chapter 3,based on the teaching practice in Glashieburn primary school,the author introduces and analyzes the content and requirements of Aberdeen primary school’s Chinese syllabus in detail.In chapter 4,the author analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the syllabus,and puts forward some Suggestions for the revision of the syllabus in chapter 5.Finally,the problems and suggestions of the Aberdeen Chinese syllabus and the suggestions for Chinese teaching in Glashieburn Primary School are summarized in the last chapter. |
