Gambling is an behavior prohibited by the state law,but in recent years, with the improvement of farmers' living condition, the change of farmers' value, and the imperfection of rural governance mechanism, gambling has emerged in the farmer group, and has brought farmers and rural areas many adverse effects. At the individual level, gambling can lead to loss of property, depraved mentality, and worsen the relationship among family members. At the social level, gambling may lead to the increase of underground economy and endanger the social order in rural areas.Governing the phenomenon of the farmer gambling is of great significance to the construction of harmonious countryside and the farmers' quality life. The academic circles are rich in the study of the farmer gambling, and recently emphasize the influence of social network and interpersonal interaction on the farmer gambling. However, previous studies only pointed out that the gambling of relatives and friends had an impact on the farmer gambling, and did not systematically analyze the impact of the characteristics of social networks on the farmer gambling. Therefore, the comprehensive application of social network theory to analyze the impact of various characteristics of social network on farmer gambling is not only a realistic response to the governance of the farmer gambling, but also a deep thinking on relevant academic research.Based on the perspective of social network, guided by social network theory and behavioral contagion theory,on the basis of systematically combing relevant literature at home and abroad and observing reality, this study defines the concept of peasant gambling, selects reasonable variables to measure peasant social network and gambling behavior, and uses 362 questionnaires to describe the current situation of the sample peasant gambling.Using the method of ordered result variable regression,on the basis of verifying the previous research conclusion that the gambling behavior of neighbors and friends in the network relationship has an impact on individual gambling behavior,we find that the range of social network and the heterogeneity of social network also have an impact on farmers gambling behavior, and put forward relevant governance suggestions according to the relevant conclusions. The specific conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)At present, gambling is popular among farmers, and 33.1% of farmers have gambling behavior, accounting for about one-third of the farmer group.Among the farmer gamblers,62.5% people take part in gambling activities at least once in a month;most farmers have a bet of 5 yuan and 10 yuan, and 11.7% of farmers have a bet of more than 15 yuan.(2)In terms of social network range, the overall range of the network has a positive impact on the frequency and bet of the farmer gambling. The range of the gambling network also has a positive impact on the frequency and bet of the farmer gambling. The role of the network range is mainly embodied by viewing gambling as a social communication tool, and the role of the range of the gambling network is mainly embodied by the behavioral contagion effect.(3)In terms of network relationship, the gambling behavior of neighbors and friends has a positive impact on the frequency and bet of the farmer gambling. This is because neighbors and friends play a major role in communication support. As a communication support activity, gambling is vulnerable to the influence of neighbors and friends.(4)In terms of the heterogeneity of the network, the heterogeneity of education level has a negative impact on the frequency and bet of the farmer gambling. This is mainly because of the influence of social and cultural identity differences brought by education on social distance;the heterogeneity of income has a positive impact on the bet of the farmer gambling, mainly because farmers with different incomes use gambling as a symbol to show their economic strength.
