With the popularity of historical movies and TV programs,the popularity of popular historical works,the popularity of TV lectures on history and the promotion of oral history,the phenomenon of " the flourishing of public history" has become increasingly obvious.As a new trend in the development of historiography,public history has exerted great impacts on both advantages and disadvantages.Public history not only conducive to the dissemination of historical knowledge,arousing the public’s historical interests and satisfying the public’s historical and cultural needs,but also has some mixed phenomena,such as vulgar content,false historical facts,wrong historical views and random expressions.The social effects of historiography towards the public have impacted the public’s existing historical consciousness and put forward higher requirements for the public’s historical and humanistic qualities.Middle school history is a basic course in the humanities and social sciences.It bears the educational function of history,plays an important role in the basic education of history,and plays a fundamental role in the formation of mass historical literacy and humanistic literacy.How to treat the prosperity of mass historiography,how to deal with the impact of mass historiography,how to correctly seek the combination path of mass historiography and middle school history education in order to better improve the teaching level of middle school history and enhance the humanistic quality of the masses are the important problems that need to be solved urgently in middle school history education.The thesis takes " public history" as the breakthrough point,analyzes the dialectical relationship between public history and middle school history education,and examines middle school history education from the perspective of public history,so as to promote the new development of middle school history education.Therefore,the main body of the paper is divided into four parts.The first part,starting from the overview of public history,analyzes the origin,definition,development process and important components of public history in order to have an overall grasp of popular historiography.The second part is mainly the investigation and analysis of the public history hot phenomenon,mainly through questionnaires and individual interviews,trying to analyze the public’s historical taste,the main media of mass history communication,the influence of mass history,the dialectical relationship between mass history and history education in middle schools.The third part mainly analyzes the impact of the prosperity of public history on the current history education in secondary schools.The last part is how middle school history education should deal with the impact of mass history and explore the combination path of mass history and middle school history education.
