Throughout the development process of modern Chinese teaching theory,overseas students participate as the main force from beginning to end.It can be said that the overseas students have made significant historical contributions to the development of each stage of the modern Chinese teaching theory,and played a variety of roles.They are both introducers and communicators of the discipline of teaching theory,as well as learners,researchers and practitioners of new teaching theories.On the one hand,the introduction and dissemination of overseas students has promoted the comprehensive and systematic introduction of advanced teaching theories,teaching ideas and teaching methods in the West.On the other hand,as the main force in the study,research and practice of new teaching theories,overseas students in addition to being a teacher,also explore basic theoretical issues,set up teaching theory courses,enriched curriculum content,published academic research,and established a community of disciplines.The establishment of professional journals has laid practical experience for the institutionalization of modern Chinese teaching theory,thus accelerating the construction and development of modern Chinese teaching theory.It can be seen that the study of overseas students and the development of the discipline of modern Chinese teaching theory has undoubtedly a very significance of important historical research and practical reference value.Papers elaborated are divided into five parts:The introduction part of the article mainly states the reasons for the selection of the topic and the significance of the research;analyzes the research status of the topic in which the topic is selected;clarifies the author's research ideas,theories and methods;determines the scope of the research and defines the relevant concepts.The first chapter overall researches the background of the discipline of the modern Chinese teaching theory and the formation of the group of teaching scholars who have been studying abroad.On this basis,it reviews the basic course of overseas students and the development of the discipline of modern Chinese teaching theory from 1901 to 1949,and puts forward three stages of the development of the discipline of teaching theory in this period.First stage,overseas students imitate and apply the germination stage of Western teaching theory;Second stage,the localization consciousness of overseas students is highlighted,and the initial stage of the modernteaching theory is promoted.Third stage,overseas students explore the development stage of localization of modern Chinese teaching theory.The second chapter mainly discusses the practical activities of overseas students from 1901 to 1949 for the development of modern Chinese teaching theory.Its practical activities mainly include the following aspects: defining the definition of the discipline,analyzing the nature of the discipline,exploring the function of the discipline,setting up the curriculum of teaching theory,cultivating the talents of the discipline,publishing academic research and discussion,establishing a community of disciplines,establishing professional journals,and perfecting the discipline system.The third chapter mainly summarizes and analyzes on the characteristics of overseas students and the development of modern teaching theory,and the historical contribution of overseas students to the development of modern teaching theory.The characteristics mainly manifests in the following aspects: the learning object is from "Toyo" to "Western";the teaching experiments have their own characteristics;the teaching theory is from imitation and transplantation to innovation based on national conditions.The historical contribution mainly manifests in the following aspects: it cleans up the drawbacks of traditional teaching thoughts,promotes the construction of Chinese teaching theory,and promotes the development of Chinese teaching theory in China.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the enlightenment of overseas students on the development of the discipline of modern Chinese teaching theory.The revelation of this research mainly includes: absorbing various resources,expanding research horizons;actively conducting experimental research;hiring foreign experts,focusing on theoretical innovation;attaching importance to personnel training and developing professional academic groups.
