In today's fierce competition for talents, countries all over the world attach great importance to the ideological and political education of college students in terms of political orientation, ideological consciousness and moral quality. Both China and the United States are big countries of talents and pay special attention to the ideological and political education of college students. Before the reform and opening up,the political "cold war" between China and the United States made it difficult to deepen cultural exchanges.Since the reform and opening up,the exchanges between China and the United States in politics, economy, culture and other aspects have been carried out comprehensively and become more and more extensive. This provides a possibility for China to deeply understand the ideological and political education of American college students. Many Chinese who have been to the United States, including overseas students, have a preliminary understanding of the United States that ideological and political education does not exist in American colleges and universities. With the deepening of cultural exchanges, people find that American colleges and universities not only have ideological and political education, but also do better than China in some aspects. The ideological and political education of college students in the two countries has both similarities and differences in content, form, method, nature and environment.First of all,in terms of content, universities in the two countries have consistency in the scope and purpose of selection. The content includes education in politics, ideology and moral character, patriotism and the legal system, and puts political education in the first place. The purpose is to train qualified citizens and the talents to serve the class; The difference between the two countries lies in that China takes collectivism and communism as the core content and unified organizational system and curriculum system as the main form, while the United States takes individualism and liberalism as the core content and there is no unified form.Secondly,in terms of approaches and methods, both countries attach great importance to family education, school education and social education,as well as method reform of theoreticalteaching and practical teaching. The difference is that China not only has a unified national education system, but also attaches importance to specific methods and reforms. The United States does not have a unified system, but pays special attention to "ideological and political theories teaching in all courses ","implicit education" and "religious education".Thirdly,in terms of educational environment, the political environment, economic environment and humanistic and natural environment of the two countries have a huge impact on the ideological and political education of college students, especially the political and economic environment has a decisive impact; The difference is that the opposition of the political and economic nature of the two countries determines the opposition of ideological and political education. The comparative study of the two countries is to reveal and explore the universal law of ideological and political education, and then to provide inspiration for the reform and innovation of ideological and political education of college students in China.Consolidating the ideological position, strengthening the combination of explicit education and implicit education, and integrating various educational resources are essential factor for the reform and innovation of ideological and political education in Chinese universities.
