In the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,General Secretary Xi Jinping mentioned that the countryside is a vast world of have a brilliant future. The implementation of the rural revitalization strategy should be carried out from all aspects simultaneously, especially to pay special attention to the enormous role of rural education in promoting rural development.Rural revitalization needs talents, and the cultivation of talents is inseparable from education, especially higher education that undertakes the training of senior professional talents. However, the reality is that the enrolment rate of higher education in rural areas is generally low, especially in high-quality higher education.Based on this, this paper investigates and analyzes the present situation of family higher education demand in J village of Eastern Fujian, and finds the following conclusions: Firstly, the economic income of J village families has increased significantly, but its consumption is still confined to the material level of production and life.Secondly, the willingness of families in J villages to receive higher education is very strong, but in reality there are very few college students.Thirdly, the utilitarian orientation of J village’s family higher education needs is obvious.Fourthly, the blindness tendency of family higher education demand in J village is prominent.Fifthly,J village families are very eager for quality higher education resources.Next this paper explores the impact of family income factors, parental education level factors, parental occupational factors,urban-rural dual structure factors, cultural factors and high-quality higher education resource supply factors on the demand for higher education of J village families. Finally, some suggestions are put forward to improve the family’s higher education demand in J village.Firstly, increase the economic income of rural residents and improve their living standards;secondly, guarantee the “right to know” of higher education in rural families;thirdly, increase the supply of high-quality basic education resources in rural areas;fourthly, implement a compensation mechanism to reasonably meet the needs of rural families for high quality higher education;fifthly, guide the rural families to change their narrow, blind, and utilitarian view of “higher education demand”.
