| The emergence, development and growth of migrant workers’ groups are closely related to China’s economic development. In the early stage of reform and opening up,rural surplus labors began to shift to non-agricultural industries, and the first generation of migrant workers appeared in China. As China’s industrialization process continued to accelerate, more and more migrant workers poured into cities and participated in all walks of life in urban construction.By the end of 2017,the total number of migrant workers has reached 280 million. The migrant workers group has become the main force in the process of industrialization in China.Generations of migrant workers have made outstanding contributions to China’s economic construction.Although the income of migrant workers has been significantly improved in this process, compared with urban residents, there is still a big gap.How to improve the income of migrant workers has become an urgent problem to be solved.According to the theory of human capital, both training and education are important ways to increase the human capital of migrant workers and increase their income. However, the opportunity cost of migrant workers receiving re-education is too high, and training can provide more choices in terms of training time, training location and training methods. In addition, training is the most important factor affecting the human stock, accounting for more than half of the total human capital, far greater than the proportion of education. Therefore, training is more suitable for migrant workers to increase their human capital. However, the impact of training on the income of migrant workers does not have an unified conclusion, and the mechanism of training’s impact on income is still unclear. Some researchers believe that training can improve the skills of workers and has a significant positive impact on the income of migrant workers.Other researchers believe that training only plays a role in screening, and the ability of workers is the critical cause of their incomechanges. And vocational certification has a positive impact on the income of migrant workers, which is considered as a signal can reflect ability. The results of some studies also confirm the positive effects of vocational certification on the income of migrant workers. As we all know, the role of worker’s training is very important in the process of obtaining vocational certification.Although researchers have discussed the impact of training and vocational certification on migrant workers’ income separately, they lack further research on the links between training, vocational certification, and migrant workers’ income.Under the framework of human capital theory,a research model with training as the independent variable, the income of migrant workers as the dependent variable and vocational qualification as the intermediary variable was constructed, focusing on the relationship between training, vocational certification and income of migrant workers, trying to find out the mechanism of training on the income of migrant workers. This paper applies the China Labor Dynamics Social Survey(CLDS)data, and uses statistical analysis methods to explore the issue such as correlation analysis, logistic regression and multiple regression. The final research results show that training has a significant positive impact on the income of migrant workers, but the effect entirely works through vocational certification, vocational certification plays a full intermediary role between training and the income of migrant workers. In other words, training has a significant positive impact on vocational certification, which in turn increases the income of migrant workers significantly. The innovation of this paper is to explore the mechanism of the impact of training on the income of migrant workers, and making it clearer. The final conclusions provide reference to understand the internal relationship between training, vocational certification and the income of migrant workers, enriching the research in this field, and which support evidence for the employment choice of migrant workers, the establishment of enterprise training system and government related policies. |
