ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to develop a scientific and applicable fundamental motor skill assessment scale of Chinese adolescents over 12-year-old,and then provide useful lessons and inspirations for the further development and assessmentof China’s youth sports and theoretical basis for the deepening reforms of China’s high school physical education content.MethodFirst,through the literature searches and systematic review,confirmed the process of the development of this fundamental motor skill assessment scale.Then,determined the primary project pool by the preliminary experiment and literature analysis.Finally,selected the final project pool and the sketch of fundamental motor skill assessment scale by experts interviews.After that,recruited 233 12-year-old teenagers and test the sketch’s Test-Retest reliability,homogeneity reliability and scorer reliability,content validity,construct validity,project validity and actual measurement results,then completed the final draft of the scale.ResultThe final draft of the tool included 2 dimensions and 16 test items.The Locomotion dimension included(8 items):straight running,standing long jump,vertical jump,scissors jump,hopping,galloping,side sliding,forward sliding.The Object Control dimension included(8 items):overarm throwing(softball),two-handed catching(softball),cast the solid sphere(double throw),underarm service(volleyball),forearm pass(volleyball),overhand smash(volleyball),kicking(football),inside of the foot trapping(football).The results found strong evidence of test-retest reliability,scorer reliability and homogeneity reliability(r=0.778~0.989,α=0.93,0.944),through the confirmatory factor analysis also discovered that final scale had an acceptable validity(X~2/df=1.417,GFI=0.928,SRMR=0.048,RMSEA=0.042,NFI=0.949,CFI=0.984),as well as the difficulty(P=0.3~0.7)and item discrimination(D>0.35)of the final draft.The difference of each dimension test results and each item test results were no significant by gender(P>0.05).ConculusionThe fundamental motor skill assessment scale of Chinese adolescents was composed of 2 dimensions(16 items).The test items of this scale were scientific and applicable,and they were appropriate for fundamental motor skill assessment of Chinese adolescents over 12-year-old.
