| The Philippines is an important country along the "One Belt And One Road" route.Since ancient times,China and the Philippines have had close exchanges.The number of Chinese in the Philippines has exceeded two million.In response to the requirements of the Chinese community,Chinese schools are established to teach Chinese.These Chinese schools not only assume the responsibility of teaching Chinese children knowledge and culture,but also have the mission of communicating the cultures of the two countries.With the passage of time,the teaching situation of Chinese school has changed,but what remains unchanged is its responsibility and mission.Letye Progressive High school is located in Tacloban,Leyte island of the Philippines.It is a very representative old Chinese school in the Philippines.It represents the historical development of Chinese schools in the Philippines and the current situation of Chinese language teaching.As part of the case study of Chinese schools,this thesis aims to provide reference for the future development of Chinese schools in the Philippines and the future volunteer teachers in the Philippines.This paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter introduces the background,research significance,research status and research methods of this paper.The second chapter introduces the background,infrastructure,history,students,teachers and curriculum of Letye Progressive High school in detail through the author’s field observation,investigation report and interview.The third chapter analyzes the existing problems of Chinese teaching in Letye Progressive High school from three aspects: school,teachers and students.The fourth chapter puts forward constructive Suggestions on Chinese teaching in Letye Progressive High school from three aspects: school,teachers and students.The fifth chapter summarizes the necessity and challenge of the development of Chinese teaching in the Philippines under the "One Belt And One Road" initiative.Due to the constraints of space,time and other objective conditions,the author failed to investigate and compare the teaching situation of more Chinese schools,resulting in many deficiencies in this paper,which will be further improved in the future research.As a volunteer Chinese teacher sent by The Confucius institute to the Philippines,the author has conducted a 10-month Chinese teaching work in Letye Progressive High school and conducted a lot of field investigation and research on the Chinese teaching situation of the school.At the same time,some Suggestions are given.This is also an innovation of this paper,but due to the constraints of space and time and other objective conditions,the author failed to carry out a detailed comparison of the Chinese teaching situation in more Chinese schools,resulting in the deficiencies of this paper,which will be further improved in the future research. |
