Wangbao Gun Research

The Wangbao Gun was an important martial art school during the late Ming and early Qing periods.The marksmanship is mainly in the form of juezha,with rapid action vicious and strong actual combat.Based on the inheritance of Wangbao gun technology,the establishment of national culture and the construction of a strong martial arts culture in Henan Province,Wangbao Gun has gradually faded out the history in modern time.The article uses field investigation,the document research,logic analysis and in-depth interview to excavate the origin,techniques,and the inheritance of Wangbao gun.The research results mainly include:First,the origin of the Wangbao Gun is influenced by the martial arts system of the Tangcun Temple to some extent,and it is supported by a profound martial arts culture background.According to the archaeological discoveries and research in Boai coutry,Qianzai temple martial arts culture circle,combined with Wuji palace,Qianzai temple,and Sansheng temple,which is centered on Tang village,has laid the cultural and technical foundation for Chen Tai Chi Chuan and Wangbao Gun.Therefore,the Qianzai temple martial arts culture circle can be seen as the origin of Wangbao Gun.The Wangbao gun was first passed by Wang Zhongjin in Wangbao Village,Boai County,and was named after the village of Wangbao Village.It was later passed down to the family for more than three hundred years.Among them,Wang Zhongjin,the first generation of Wangbao Gun,once had the inscription of Li Chunmao of the Eight ancestors of Tang Cun and Dong Bingqian of Tangcun,but up to now only Li Ziqi’s tombstone has been found as evidence.In the descendants of Wang’s village of Wangbao Village,the title of mastering of guns,the tactics of guns,and the master of guns appeared.In the Qing Emperor Qianlong period,Wang Anmin and Wang Lincang,the fifth generation of Wangbao Guns in Wangbao Village,were known as “Wangbao”.Guns."Second,Wangbao Gun as an important martial arts school in the Tangcun martial arts cultural circle,inherits the fine tradition of civil and military training.In addition to the words and deeds of technical movements,it also attaches importance to the inheritance of practical experience,the characteristics of techniques and the training summary,which formed a rich theoretical content of guns and maintained the original nature of the ancient style.The technical movements of Wangbao gun is archaic and practical.There is no single person drills,either fancy action,but double big pole to tie routine.In 1787,Wang Anmin,a successor of Wangbao gun,systematically sorted Wangbao guns under the guidance of Li Helin,the twelfth of the Tang Dynasty.Later,the book Wangbao gun was published and passed to Wang Jinglue in Wangbao Village today.The Wangbao gun has strict Wushu ethics with a motto "If you don’t succeed,don’t say out your teacher" to respect teacher and an inheritance requirement "choose someone with good virtue outside".Wangbao’s gun technique features mainly the practicality of the routine,the unique grip method,the strong practicality of the technique,the archaic and practical technical movements and the tie-up.Third,the Wangbao gun is divided into the Wang family of Wangbao Village and the inheritance of the two villages.The inheritance outside the village mainly includes the surrounding villages of Wangbao Village in Bo’ai County and the areas out of Bo’ai County.The inheritance scope outside the village mainly spreads in the eight counties of ancient Huaiqing House in Boai County,Xiangyang,Jiyuan,Wenxian,Mengxian,Wuyi,Yuanwu and Yangwu.The inheritance of the Wangbao gun in Wangbao Village is mainly based on the inheritance between father and son,uncle and grandfather,and there is no teacher ceremony under the family inheritance.But the inheritance outside the village of Wangbao Village is the inheritance between the masters and the apprentices with ancient and modern apprenticeships.The current status of Wangbao guns is mainly due to the serious loss of technique,the laggard survival of the inheritors,the shrinking of the practicing population,and the lack of organizational activities.Fourth,the article proposes the development strategy of Wangbao Gun.Such as standardize and strengthen the protection of traditional martial arts culture villages,increase economic support,the government’s policy of managing traditional martial arts culture villages;under the background of promoting traditional culture,strengthen the construction of application for legacy.Government departments should strengthen guidance and support,increase the protection of the inheritance group,increase the social protection of Wangbao guns;broaden the transmission routes of Wangbao guns,and promote the work of Wangbao guns into school in the Bo’ai County;Take competition as chance and promote the exchange and improvement of Wangbao guns.
