In today's world,scientific discoveries and technological innovations are constantly emerging,providing possibilities for human beings to understand and rationally use nature on a larger scale and at a deeper level.The development and progress of science and technology have changed our way of life.At the same time,we have also promoted the transformation of human thinking and production methods,and promoted social progress and economic prosperity.The rapid development of science and technology has also put forward new requirements for the scientific literacy of every citizen.Early science education played an important role in the formation of a person's scientific literacy.On February 15 th,2017,the Standards for Science Curriculum in Compulsory Primary Schools was promulgated by Ministry of Education.The overall goal of the new curriculum standard is to develop students' scientific literacy.The content of technology and engineering field were added to the original curriculum standard.The new standards focus on the cultivation of students' scientific inquiry ability,emphasize learning from doing and advocate interdisciplinary learning methods,that is STEAM.STEAM's educational philosophy emphasizes the integration of interdisciplinary,especially attaches importance to cultivating students' ability to explore and solving problems in real life.Each student is encouraged to participate acitivities,experience the process of acquiring knowledge,and feel the power of technology.In order to more effectively cultivate the pupils' scientific inquiry ability of primary school students and their scientific literacy,this paper attempts to integrate STEAM concept into primary school science teaching based on the investigation of the status quo of fourth-grade primary school students' scientific literacy.The teaching activity The secret of hot air balloon rise-Making a lantern was designed and implemented,and a good teaching effect was obtained.The paper is divided into the following five parts:The first part: clarify the research background,significance and research status of STEAM edution at home and abroad,the research content and research methods of the thesis.The second part: explain the theoretical research basis of the teaching design of in this paper,including the psychological and cognitive theory of primary school students,constructivist learning theory,humanism and learning by doing.The third part: a questionnaire survey on the scientific literacy was carried out.2 or 3 classes were chosen in the fourth grade of the three schools of Shilin Primary School,Shiyan Primary School and Letian Primary School in Changqing District of Jinan City.The statistical data generated from the questionnaire were analyzed from the scientific content and scientific cognition aspects,which laid the foundation of the design and implementation for the fourth-grade elementary school science STEAM teaching activities.The fourth part: integrate the STEAM concept into the classroom teaching of elementary science.According to the Standard for Science Curriculum in Compulsory Primary Schools and the investigation and analysis of the status quo of primary school students' scientific literacy,the teaching activity—“ the rise of hot air balloons-making the lanterns ”was designed.Then the teaching activities was implemented and the teaching effect was evalusted.The fifth part: summary of the full text and prospect of the science teaching.
