Attachment theory is one of the most important theories in interpersonal science. In this study,we explore the effect of attachment on perceived partner responsiveness in Chinese couples.Ratings of perceived responsiveness were made by both the romantic partner who disclosed in a positive event.Trained observers then rated each videotaped interaction. We also examine reliability and validity of perceived partner responsiveness scale in Chinese adults. The research method of this study are as follows:First of all,we examine reliability and validity of perceived partner responsiveness scale in Chinese adults.Second,we invited 60 couples participate in a couples' interactive research.Couples need completed basic demographic information,Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory,Perceived Partner Responsiveness Scale.Couples engaged in 20 minutes of interactive discussion about positive events in their lives.Trained observers then rated each videotaped interaction. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The Chinese version of the PPRS has good reliability and validity. It is an effective tool to measure the perceived partner responsiveness among Chinese adults with romantic relationships.(2)Attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance have different effects on perceived partner responsiveness. There is neither actor effect nor partner effect of attachment anxiety on perceived partner responsiveness(Neither individual attachment anxiety nor partner attachment anxiety affects the individual's perception of partner responsiveness).Individual attachment avoidance has actor effect and partner effect on perceived partner responsiveness(Both individual attachment avoidance and partner attachment avoidance affect individual perception of partner responsiveness).(3)Individual attachment orientation on individual own response behaviors:Individuals with higher attachment anxiety show more silence and inactivity.Individuals with a high degree of attachment avoidance exhibited behaviors of undermining,denying,and/verbal attacking their partners.(4)Individual attachment orientation on partner's response behavior:individuals with high attachment anxiety will not make their partners have any destructive behavior, but individuals with high attachment avoidance will make their partners have undermining,denying,and/verbal attacking behaviors. To sum up,attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance have different ways of perceived partner responsiveness and response behaviors. At the end of the paper,we discussed whether increasing the positive response of partners to individuals can trigger the transition from insecure individuals to secure individuals.
