Block paly is an ancient human play,even in the current era of electronic and online games,block play have never been absent in children’s play.The value of play to children’s development is various,so is the block play.The discussion on the development value of block play mainly focuses on the cognitive development to children,while the language development opportunities of block play is rarely paid attention to.In fact,the process of block play that children are talking all the time is very lively,and block play provide children with real and stress-free situations,contain language learning opportunities richly at the same time.In this study,a total of 108 children in three age groups were collected by nonparticipatory observation method in each block game lasting about 30 minutes,and select unit block as the block play material.The purpose is to summarize the characteristics of children’s speech and analyze the language learning opportunities in block play,so that early childhood educators can correctly understand the value of block paly to language development.Research findings:·Features of children’s speech in block playOn the whole,children have abundant speeches in block paly.From the trend of total number of speeches,the children in small,middle and large classes in block paly shows an increasing trend,and the number of different types of speeches also shows an increasing trend.Role-playing speech takes up a certain proportion,among which the small class children’s role-playing speech takes up the highest percentage in the total number of speeches.In the block paly,children’s speech is short and they can express the meaning clearly with only 2-3 words.Children’s age is the cause of the difference in the number of speeches,and also has a significant impact on the average sentence length in the block play.From different types of speech: the number of children’s scientific speech in block play is large.From the perspective of the trend of the number of scientific speeches,the number of scientific speeches in block play of children in small,middle and large classes shows an increasing trend.Children’s scientific speech consists of scientific inquiry speech and mathematical cognitive speech,and the number of mathematical cognitive speech is more than scientific inquiry speech.In block play,children’s social speech accounted for a high proportion,and the social speech of middle class and small class accounted for more than half of the total speech.The number of children’s artistic speech in the block play is small.The age of children is the main reason for the difference in the number of scientific words,while the number of social words and artistic words of children in different age groups does not reach the statistically significant difference.In addition,children’s predicted speech,planned speech and mathematical speech in block play are also very "characteristic" in their speech.· Language learning opportunities in block gamesThis study aims to understand learning opportunities from the perspective of "resources supporting learning" and "possibility".Therefore,this paper mainly expounds how does block play supports children’s scientific language and social language learning,and which possibilities does block play provides for children’s scientific language and social language.At the same time,this paper analyzes how children’s language learning opportunities are realized in the block play.
