Tattoos Of Urban Women:A Silent Word Carved On Skin

Tattoo is a kind of body art form which originated from ancient civilization.In our secular society,tattoo has been floating and sinking for thotusands of years with various symbolic meanings.Until recent years,tattoo culture has gradually faded the stereotype of the past tattoo culture and began to exist as a kind of urban popular culture in the city.Urban women groups,as active inspirers of popular culture,have tattoos.Symbols provide them with ways of self-presentation,such as flaunting their personality,pursuing freedom and so on.Taking the urban female tattoo group as the research object,this paper focuses on the period of tattoo as a kind of urban popular culture in recent years.However,due to the long history of tattoo culture itself and the change of women's ideas and body concepts in the process of development,it is of vital importaince to elaborate the self-expression of urban women using tattoo symbols.The first chapter traces back to the origin of tattoo development.The second chapter elaborates why tattoo exists as an urban popular culture from the development platform of streaming media,the thawing of body consciousness,the evolution of fashion aesthetics and the development of tattoo industry.It also introduces the new style of tattoo as a urban popular culture.Because women's body has been confined for a long time in our country,but today urban women can achieve self-determination through tattoo behavior independently,so the third chapter first combs the process of tattoo culture for women from confinement to metamorphosis,and then through the current urban women's choice of tattoo patterns,parts and symbolic images of tattoo.The analysis reveals the pluralistic demands,dynamic manifestations and contradictory psychology of contemporary urban women in the process of tattoo behavior.As a kind of body culture,tattoo is bound to be disciplined under the package of consumerism,but unlike the popular body culture such as cosmetic surgcry ancd body shaping,tattoo is also an artistic symbol,which can give full play to the initiative of the main body to create.Therefore,in the fourth chapter,the author aims to face the discipline of consumer Cculture through urban female tattoo groups and their use of tattoo symbols.Is the construction of subjectivity in the process of creation and self-presentation of art symbols a breakthrough for women's body self-determination and subjectivity construction?In this paper,the author attempts to l make a more comprehensive analysis of the tattoo group by combining the research data,in order to explore whether the tattoo culture provides a more free subjective construction space for contemporary urban women.
