Abstract:At present,China is undergoing an important period of social transformation. After the popularization of higher education,Chinese universities will also be in a crucial transition period. At the same time, freshmen students will also be at an important turning point in their life growth.Trust directly affects its adaptability during the turning point of the sophomore year.In the development process of higher education, there are many problems with value concepts that have caused dissatisfaction and censure among people from all walks of life.Societies, parents and students have even questioned the "disappearance of the university spirit".The friendly relationships and lofty values that college students have are closely linked with the trust of college students and are a concrete manifestation of the return of university spirit.Studies found that encouraging college students to participate in voluntary services helps increase the trust of university volunteers in society and others. In order to deeply explore the correlation between college students' volunteer service experience and their trust, this study is based on the micro data of 2763 college students'questionnaires of 9 colleges in Hunan Province. It uses the measurement tool Stata 13.0 to process and calculate the data and adopts OLS regression. The statistical method of the model is used to compare and analyze the characteristics of freshmen's volunteer service experience, interpersonal trust and social trust, and further studies the correlation between volunteer service experience and the trust of freshman students, and draws the following conclusions:Firstly, there are significant differences in some personal characteristics and family characteristics between freshman student volunteers and non-first year student volunteers. For example, freshman students who have volunteering experience are more likely to be poor students, more likely to receive scholarships or financial aid,and less likely to be unemployed by their parents;Secondly, according to the descriptive analysis results,we can draw a significant positive correlation between volunteer service experience and college student trust(including interpersonal trust and social trust);Thirdly, different volunteer service experiences have different influence on college students' trust. This is mainly because different volunteer service types have different influences on the trust of freshman students, and different volunteer service motives have different influences on the trust of freshman students.
