| Guangxi,as China’s gateway to ASEAN countries,many overseas students,especially those from Southeast Asia,make Guangxi the first choice for studying abroad.Therefore,it is an important issue to promote the cross-cultural adaptation and the Chinese culture identity of overseas students in China while to improve the quality of Chinese foreign student education.This study uses quantitative research methods to analyze and explore the influence factors of cross-cultural adaptation and the Chinese culture identity of overseas students in China and also the correlation between cross-cultural adaptation and the Chinese culture identity.460 students from seven universities in Nanning were investigated by questionnaire survey:"Cross-cultural adaptation and Chinese cultural identity questionnaire for overseas students in China " and the following conclusions were drawn:(1)The social and cultural adaptation can be scaled to six factors,which can be named as language communication adaptation,daily life adaptation,cultural attitude adaptation,academic adaptation,stress coping adaptation and social communication adaptation.(2)The Chinese cultural identity can be scaled to three factors:behavior,cognition and emotion.(3)The degree of social and cultural adaptation difficulties of most overseas students in China are at the middle level,and the degree of social and cultural adaptation in turn is the following:cultural attitude adaptation>social communication adaptation>stress coping>adaptation>academic adaptation>daily life adaptation.(4)More than 80%of the students have varying degrees of depression.The psychological adaptation of overseas students is not good enough.The psychological health of overseas students should be pay attention to.(5)There are significant differences to adapt to social and cultural adaptation of overseas students in China on gender,Chinese identity,nationality,Chinese language level,length of living in China and age.There is no significant difference on intergeneration,school and destination of coming to China.There is only significant different to adapt to the psychological adaptation of overseas students in China on different nationalities,while other variables don’t have significant effect on psychological adaptation.(6)The degree of Chinese cultural identity of overseas students in China is at the middle level,generally,the cognition of Chinese culture is higher,and the emotional identity of Chinese culture is higher than the behavioral identity of Chinese culture.(7)There are significant differences to Chinese cultural identity on the background such as Chinese identity,nationality,school,length of living in China,and the destination of coming to China.There is no significant difference on gender,intergeneration,Chinese language level,and age.(8)The degree of social and cultural adaptation difficulties of foreign students in China is negatively correlated with the level of Chinese cultural identity;the degree of psychological adaptation to Chinese students is not significantly correlated to the level of Chinese cultural identity. |
