Effect On The Life Satisfaction Of Households From Livelihood Assets

Since the adoption of reform and opening up policy,China's economy has continued to grow at a high speed and people's living standards have improved continuously.However,the difference between urban and rural areas still exist,especially in the mountainous rural areas,which lag far behind the cities.Generally speaking,the developmental level of Zhejiang 's economy is relatively high,but the economic development in mountainous areas is lagging behind.The difficulty of implementing rural rejuvenation in Zhejiang Province is in the mountainous areas.Taking mountain households as the research object,from the micro perspective of farmers,this paper studies the impact of livelihood assets on the life satisfaction in mountainous households,and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions,which have important practical significance to improve the life satisfaction of mountainous households.This paper summarizes relevant literatures on livelihood assets and household life satisfaction.Based on the survey data of 322 households in 10 townships of 5 counties(cities)in Zhejiang Province,this paper compares and analyzes livelihood assets and life satisfaction differences between different regions and different types of farmers;Using cross-statistical analysis and Ologit model,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of five types of livelihood assets index and specific indicators on households' life satisfaction.The following conclusions are drawn:(1)The sample of peasant households have abundant human assets and social assets,but lack of physical assets,financial assets,and natural assets.Households' life satisfaction is generally high,focusing on the evaluation of "satisfaction" and "comparative satisfaction".The households who are satisfied with their living conditions are the most,and those who are not satisfied with their living conditions are the least.(2)There are differences in livelihood assets and life satisfaction between different areas and different types of households.The difference of human assets index between households in different areas is greatest.Yongkang city and Lin'an city are abundant in human assets,while Kaihua county,Longquan city and Pan'an county are relatively poor in human assets;the difference of financial assets index between different types of households is greatest.The financial assets of Non-peasant households and two-peasant households are more abundant,pure peasant households and one-peasant households are more abundant.Households' financial assets are relatively poor.The index of human assets,physical assets,and financial assets increase from pure farmer to non-farmer,while the index of natural assets decreases from pure farmer to non-farmer.The life satisfaction of households in Ling'an city is the highest,and the life satisfaction level of households in Longquan city is the lowest.The proportion of "very satisfied" and "satisfied" households increased from pure farmer to non-farmer,and the proportion of "very unsatisfied" and "unsatisfied" households decreased from pure farmer to non-farmer.(3)Cross-statistics found that the higher the index of natural assets index and physical assets index of farmers,the higher their life satisfaction.Among the specific indicators of livelihood assets,the higher the five indicators of per capita forest land area,own material assets,net cash income,family deposits and the number of frequently moving relatives and friends,the higher the life satisfaction of farmers,indicating that the larger the stock of livelihood assets,the higher the life satisfaction of farmers.The empirical analysis shows that human assets,natural assets,physical assets and financial assets have a positive and significant impact on households' life satisfaction at different statistical levels,and physical assets has the greatest impact on households' life satisfaction.Among the specific indicators of livelihood assets,the household labor capacity in human assets,the proportion of good quality arable land in natural assets,the household housing situation in physical assets and the views on village infrastructure,household savings in financial assets,and the number of frequently moving relatives and friends in social assets all have a significant impact on the households' life satisfaction in different statistical levels.Based on the above conclusions,it is proposed that the health level and comprehensive quality of labor force should be improved,and the human capital of rural households in mountainous areas should be increased.Farmers and government should pay attention to the protection of cultivated land,improve the quality of cultivated land,and ensure the natural capital stock of pure and part-time farmers in mountainous areas.The government should strengthen the construction of rural infrastructure in mountainous areas and enrich the material capital of rural households in mountainous areas.Farmers should rely on non-agricultural employment to broaden their income channels and improve their financial capital in mountainous areas.
