The psychological quality and mental health education ability of the head teachers in rural primary schools will directly affect the development of children’s psychological quality,and play a great role in their lifelong growth.In the past,many scholars have studied teachers’ mental health education ability,but there is a lack of systematic analysis of teachers’ mental health education ability in rural primary schools.Especially,the level and characteristics of mental health education ability of head teachers in western rural areas of China have not been systematically demonstrated.Based on this situation,the author takes improving the mental health education ability of rural primary school head teachers in Liangshan Prefecture as the research topic,and takes M School as the object of empirical analysis,systematically analyses the current level and existing problems of mental health education ability of rural primary school head teachers in China,and puts forward to systematically optimize their mental health education ability.Suggestion.Based on theoretical analysis,research tools,problem analysis and countermeasures,this paper defines the connotation of head teacher’s mental health education ability by using the methods of literature,questionnaire and interview.On the basis of empirical investigation,it analyses the current situation,characteristics and problems of head teacher’s mental health education ability in M school,and draws lessons from them.On the basis of relevant theories,this paper analyses the conditions for the cultivation and development of mental health education ability of head teachers in rural primary schools in China.This paper puts forward some countermeasures to optimize the mental health education ability of head teachers in M school,and verifies these countermeasures through practice.The paper finds that the current M school head teacher’s mental health education ability has the problems of uneven cognitive ability,weak knowledge base and weak operational ability.The main reasons for these problems are lack of role consciousness,lack of relevant regulations and lack of training.Combining with the special status of head teachers,the multiplicity of teacher-student relationship,the multiple social roles of head teachers,the combination of class management and mental health education,and the combination of moral education and mental health education,this paper puts forward the strategies for training the ability of mental health education of head teachers in rural primary schools as follows: awakening the recognition of the role of head teachers in mental health education;formulating the role of head teachers in primary schools.Standard standards of mental health education;reforming school management mechanism to lighten the burden of head teachers;enhancing the pertinence of primary school head teachers’ mental health education training;perfecting the supervision and evaluation mechanism of mental health education to cultivate the ability of rural primary school head teachers’ mental health education.
