John Dewey(1859-1952),who was a famous American pragmatist educator and philosopher in 20th century.On the basis of reading related works of Dewey's complete works,this paper is supplemented by other works of mathematics psychology(?The Psychology of Number and Its Applications to Methods of Teaching?)and pedagogy of Dewey,systematically analyzed Dewey's theory of mathematics education and dialectically recognized his mathematical education thought.it has a certain reference to the theoretical research the mathematics classroom teaching in primary and middle schools in China,At the same time,it also changes the students' attitude to mathematics learning,guides students to learn more effectively,stimulates interest in learning and improve the quality of teaching in the classroom.The main research contents are as follows:Firstly,It includes the purpose and significance of the research,research status in domestic and abroad.research methods,research ideas and innovation of the research.This paper introduces Dewey's life in detail and briefly introduces Dewey's influence in the United States,Germany,Japan,China and other countries.Secondly,It mainly focuses on the psychical nature of number,the origin of number,the development of number concept and its arithmetic operations,digital teaching,and Diges the essence of the psychology of Number,and refines the main points.It illustrates the Dewey to stand in the Angle of the philosophy,around the reflective thinking,put forward "five steps of thinking",summarized the implication and characteristics of the teaching thought of the problem,emphasized the relationship between psychology and logic of geometry education and pay attention to the point.Again,The part enumerates the typical cases of Dewey mathematics education thought in teaching application,helps to improve mathematics classroom teaching.Finally,It summarizes Dewey's mathematics education thought,and sums up the significance of the education thought of Dewey mathematics to education of today's mathematics,dialectically analyzed the limitations of Dewey's mathematics education thinking,and proposed further research prospect.
