The physical condition of teenagers in our country was highly concerned by the government and the society,thus physical education in school which has a direct impact to it is getting more concern as well.Basketball is very popular among students which can arouse their interest in sports and be beneficial to their mental and physical health in order to fit in the society.In the long term,primary school was the most fundamental and vital period of the whole school course.Students in this period grow rapidly with strong memory and unbeatable ability of imitation.Habits formed during this time can stays throughout their whole life.Thus the reform of physical education comes to the top priority.Basketball teaching contents provide a reliable foundation of the actual teaching of teachers and a realization of the basketball course.This thesis studied current situation of basketball course in 20 primary schools in Dongguan to be well informed of the status of the teaching contents.Through the study we can have a conclusion as follow:(1)The choice of teaching contents of basketball course should be considered with the combination of the interest,needs and the actual situation of students as well as the local culture and teaching resource and so on.(2)Current status of basketball teaching of Dongguan primary school shows the lack of knowledge of sports participation,mental and physical health and adaptation to society.Due to this,this thesis suggests to add more contents of this area.Through 8 weeks experiment,students are found to have a better score.From current status,the relation of teaching contents and aim of Basketball teaching in Dongguan was poor.(3)Current teaching contents have less relation to the development of mental and physical development,which would diminish the interest of students and hold back the development of students.After 8 weeks experiment,we found students are improved from these aspects.Currently,the teaching contents fit badly with the features of students.(4)Current teaching contents have little concern of emotion control and how to avoid natural risks,which makes students hard to experience the fun and meaning of sports.After 8weeks experiment,students improved in mentally and physically.(5)Time for basketball teaching is always insufficient—taken up by other courses,even the training schedule for basketball team.The equipments for students are designed for adults instead of suitable for accordingly age.Based on the analysis above,the thesis offers suggestion as follow:(1)The choice of teaching contents should take health as its first concern;make some adjustment based on the principles of physical education.(2)The choice of teaching contents should emphasize more on the relation of teaching contents and teaching aim.Through the work of students,help them develop better mentally and physically.(3)The choice of teaching contents should concern more about the combination of feature of development of mental and physical.(4)The relation of teaching contents and society should be enforced.It is important to let students understand the difference of sports ability of each person,and try to understand others and care for each other,learn to cooperate with team members in order to better prepare for future life.(5)The government and authorities should pay more attention to the equipments in primary school.Students should use equipment suited to their age and body.The time designed for physic education should not be took up by other courses.It is vital to let students have strong and healthy body.
