Objective: Based on the cues of net separated three small ball sports,present study compared and analyzed the differences in physical health and mental health among pupils in different sports modes,sports items and genders.At the same time,we explored the relationship between pupils’ physical health and mental health,aiming at providing practical evidence for promoting pupils’ physical and mental health.Methods: In this study,a cluster sampling method was used to select a total of 284 students from the second,third,fourth and fifth grades of the three primary schools of Shanghai Jianshe Primary School,Shanghai Zhengli Road Second Primary School and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology,including general students,sport association students and sports school students.There belonged to three types of sports modes: sports courses,sports association,and sports school training.General students have no regular exercise habits.Sports association students and sports school students are regular exercisers for table tennis,badminton,or tennis with once week for sports association students and three times a week for sports school students.The physical fitness test was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the National Student Physical Fitness Health Standard and the Theory and Method for Evaluation of Healthy Fitness and Fitness,and Mental Health Test(MHT)was used for psychological assessment.Results:(1)Comparison of physical and mental health of pupils in different sports modes:The results showed that the physical fitness score of sports school students was significantly higher than that of the other two groups;the tendency of total anxiety was significantly lower than that of the other two groups.There was no significant difference between general students and sport association students.Among the indicators of physical fitness,for body shape,the physical height of sports school students was significantly lower than that of general students,and the weight and BMI were significantly lower than those of general students and sports association students;for physical function,there was no significant difference among the three types of students;for physical fitness,the sports school students performed significantly better than those of general students and sports association students in skipping,sit-ups,50m× 8 round-trips,and repeated crossovers.In the 50-meter race,the sports school students performed significantly better than the general students and sports association students performed significantly better than the general students in 1minute skipping indicator.In the diagnosis of mental health,sports school students show lower a learning anxiety and horror tendency than that of the other two groups and lower loneliness tendency than sports association students.There was no significant difference in the mental health dimensions between general students and sports association students.(2)Comparison of physical and mental health of pupils in different sportingevents under the sports training model: The total physical fitness scores of badminton students are significantly higher than those of table tennis students;there is no significant difference in the scores of the three types of sports activities on total anxiety.Among the indicators of physical fitness,for body shape,body weight of tennis students was significantly higher than that of table tennis and badminton students,while BMI was significantly higher than that of badminton students;for physical function,There was no significant difference among the three types of training students;for physical fitness,the rope skipping,sit-ups,50-meter runs,and grip strength of the tennis students were significantly higher than those of the table tennis students.The badminton students performed significantly better in sit-ups and50-meter runs than table tennis and tennis students,and better in grip strength than table tennis students.In the diagnosis of mental health,there was no significant difference in all dimensions and total scores among students of different training programs.(3)Comparison of physical and mental health of pupils of different genders: The total physical fitness of girls is significantly higher than that of boys.There is no significant difference in the total anxiety tendency between the two groups.Among the indicators of physical fitness,for body shape,boys’ weight and BMI test results were significantly higher than girls;for physical function,boys’ vital capacity was significantly better than that of girls;for physical fitness,boys performed better in grip strength than girls and girls performed better in the rope skipping and seated body flexion than boys.In the diagnosis of mental health,boys were significantly better than girls in the dimension of terror,and girls were significantly better than boys in the dimension of loneliness.(4)Correlation analysis between physical health and mental health: There was a significant negative correlation between total physical fitness and total anxiety.Conclusion:(1)The physical health level and mental health level of the pupils in the sports school training model were significantly better than general students and sport association students,the physical health level and mental health level of general students and sport association students were relatively consistent.(2)Under the sports school training mode,badminton students had better physical health,followed by tennis students and again by table tennis students.The mental health of the three groups was relatively consistent.(2)There was a significant gender difference in the health of primary school students.The physical health of girls is better than that of boys,but the mental health of primary school boys and girls is relatively consistent.(4)There was a significant positive correlation between physical health and mental health of primary school students.
