In this new era of information,mathematics reading is very important.On the one hand,mathematics reading is the requirement of education.The standard of compulsory education mathematics curriculum points out that teachers should guide students to read,examine students' ability to obtain information from specific situations,develop mathematical ability and expand students' thinking.On the other hand,improving students' reading ability in mathematics plays an important role in the concept of"lifelong learning".In order to accomplish these two objectives,we need to understand these problems:(1)the status of mathematics reading for junior middle school students;(2)the reasons for the formation of junior middle school students' mathematical reading status;(3)The gender difference in mathematics reading status of junior high school students;(4)the difference in junior middle school students' mathematical reading in grade;(5)the suggestion of cultivating the ability of mathematics reading in junior middle school students..In order to solve these problems,I develop the questionnaire of the present situation of mathematics reading for junior high school students and the test of reading ability in mathematics for junior high school students according to the related literature and mentor guidance.I test the questionnaire on a small scale and get reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Then,I give out questionnaires and tests in a middle school in Wuhan,Hubei province to understand the present situation of mathematics reading and reading ability of mathematics for junior high school students.Also students who take part in the questionnaire survey are randomly selected to participate in the interview in order to know the reason for this situation and give advice of training mathematics reading ability.Study shows that,on the whole,there is a great difference and consistency of mathematics reading in junior middle school students.There is also great space of development.The present situation of mathematics reading of boys is better than that of girls.The present situation of mathematics reading of the first and third grade is better than that of grade 2.From the perspective of each dimension,(1)junior high school students know little about mathematics reading,and ignore reading extracurricular books;(2)junior high school students ignore intensive training after reading,and have no systematic and comprehensive mathematical reading method.Most students read with experience.(3)junior high school students have not developed the habits of reading before class or in class.They have not tried to diversify their tools of mathematics reading in the information society.(4)parents don't pay much attention to mathematics reading.They think exercises are more important than to reading.(5)Junior middle school students do not know enough about the integrity of the structure of mathematics textbooks.According to analysis of the current situation and causes of junior middle school students' Mathematics Reading.I provide 5 suggestions on how to Cultivate Junior High School Students' reading ability in mathematics,which are correcting reading attitude,optimizing reading method,cultivating reading habit,creating reading environment and enriching reading content.
