The acquisition of knowledge comes from practice,the improvement of ability also depends on continuous practice,the practical ability of engineering students is an important indicator of judging the pros and cons of a college student,with the rapid development of society and economy,the arrival of knowledge economy,the requirements for the practical ability of engineering students are also increasing,universities and colleges have positioned the training of talents as: to cultivate the practical talents of the real needs of society and enterprises,not only meeting the needs of the socialist modernization drive but also meeting the development needs of the enterprises' rapid renewal.In recent years,universities have been exploring new mechanisms for fostering the practical ability of engineering students,constantly optimizing the practical teaching of engineering majors,actively exploring clear practical teaching goals,seeking reasonable and flexible new experimental teaching methods,establishing long-term cooperation through industry-university-research cooperation,formulating tough and gentle assessment and evaluation mechanisms through professional norms and student reality,it has a certain guiding significance for the construction of practical teaching system in ethnic colleges.The engineering specialty in ethnic universities has its own characteristics,the lack of practical abilities of undergraduates majoring in engineering majors in ethnic colleges,the lack of innovative awareness,the lack of weak practical teachers,and other issues still exist,the exploration of a practical teaching model suitable for practical training of engineering majors in ethnic colleges,is an important problem facing colleges of higher learning.This article comprehensively uses the methods of literature analysis,comparative analysis,questionnaire survey and case interview to analyze the background,significance,theoretical basis and principles of practical ability cultivation of college engineering students.The research content includes basic understanding of the practical ability of polymer college students,the current situation of practical ability development,and practical experience of students in practical teaching.By investigating the materials and engineering majors of Northwest Minzu University,it was found that there are some deficiencies in the practical teaching process:deviations in practical teaching objectives,serious disconnects between personnel training standards and social needs,mismatch of practical teaching content,and insufficient depth of difficulty,The theory is light practice;the practice base insideand outside the school is unstable,the practice environment is poor;the practice teaching methods are traditionally single,which weakens the students' enthusiasm for learning;the practical teaching teachers are weak,the student-teacher ratio is too high,and young teachers are difficult to fully qualify for practical teaching duties;teaching management is not in place,the only common management system is difficult to focus on the individual development of students;practical teaching evaluation is not clear,it is difficult to reflect the principle of fairness and justice.In combination with the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan”,it is clearly required to strengthen personnel training and incentives,and to further collect successful cases at home and abroad to cultivate practical abilities,sort out and sort out successful experiences,now taking the case of polymer materials and engineering major at Northwest Minzu University as an example,constructing a practical teaching system and evaluation system: the practical teaching objectives should be scientifically positioned according to the current situation of schools and majors,and comprehensively examine the specific needs of the four aspects of theoretical courses,quality education,professional skills,and ABET certification,Paying close attention to the sub-subjects of each aspect;practice teaching content should start from the reform of experimental teaching methods and the establishment of a multi-level experimental course system to introduce new In the era of flipping classroom teaching,thematic teaching,and web-based PBL teaching method,the single experimental subject was changed to a diversified experimental subject,and integrated experiments,design experiments,and innovative experiments were combined and placed in the same one,learning at different times in the experimental class;strengthening the management of practical teaching;clarifying the assessment mechanism of the practical teaching link,determining the ability points of the experimental link,and making the assessment relatively fair and just.In the process of building a practical teaching system,we will add micro-cases and discuss in depth the training mode of practical ability.
