1.Research BackgroundThe internal governance reform is an important part in deepening the reform in universities to speed up development and a key step in improving the modern university system.Undergraduates,as the most direct participants,perceivers and beneficiaries in this reform,entertain crucial say in the evaluation of the reform.However,at present,the evaluation system and related academic researches,especially those of the "double-class" or "double-high" university construction reform,have mostly focused on the discipline evaluative criteria and scientific research indicators,while few have conducted comprehensive research studying the undergraduates' objective gain and subjective cognition from the internal governance reform in universities."Sense of gain" is a new term which consists of objective acquisition and subjective experience,and is often used to reflect the happiness that people have felt in sharing the reform achievements.This study raised the following questions and assumptions,based on which a preliminary research was conducted:(1)whether undergraduates' sense of gain should become one of the important criteria in evaluating the effectiveness of the internal governance reform in universities;(2)what the contents and theoretical connotation of the undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform in universities are;(3)what the current situation and influence factors of the undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities are,and whether it is possible to give some feasible suggestions to boost the undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform in universities.2.Research ObjectivesTo put forward the preliminary concept,main contents and theoretical connotation of undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform in universities,and to determine corresponding indicators and measurable variables.To conduct a current situation investigation on undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform in universities,and to analyze the influence factors and offer some suggestions for improvement based on the investigation results.3.Research MethodsThe concept,main contents and theoretical connotation of the undergraduates'sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities were preliminarily determined using literature research method,semi-structured interview method,and analysis of induction.Current situation investigation and consultation were carried out using the method of questionnaire survey.University staff were investigated in a randomized sampling questionnaire,and a total of 288 questionnaires were issued and recovered,273 valid samples were returned.Undergraduates from 7 Key Universities in the High-level University Construction in one province were investigated in a stratified random sampling questionnaire to study their sense of gain,and a total of 7010 questionnaires were issued and recovered,6330 valid samples were effectively recovered.Statistical analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS 22.0,and various analyzing methods,including reliability analysis,rank sum test,correlation analysis,and logistic regression analysis,were applied to analyze the returned questionnaires.Research materials and data were analyzed and generalized via comprehensive analysis method,methods of deduction and induction,and qualitative and qualitative methods,based on which some suggestions were put forward.4.Research Results and conclusion4.1 The concept,main contents and theoretical connotation of the undergraduates'sense of gain in the internal governance reform in universities were preliminarily determined.The evaluation system includes 4 areas and 22 observing points:The direct perception of objective gain,the stakeholders' need and exception regarding the internal governance reform in universities,their attitudes to the internal governance reform,and their subjective feelings to the reform results.4.2 The current situation of undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities is:?university staff and students all agree that students' sense of gain should be considered in the internal governance reform of universities;?little attention was attached to undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities,and undergraduates' attention to and participation in the reform were insufficient;?undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities varies significantly by gender,institution,grade,post,and comprehensive quality evaluation ranking(P-value<0.05).4.3 Main factors affecting undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform in universities include:?the attention and support that university pays to undergraduates' participation in the internal governance reform;?"material benefits"brings about by the internal governance reform to students;?undergraduates' need,expectation,awareness and satisfaction of the reform;?the attitude,behavior,degree and effect of students' participation in the process of university governance reform.4.4 Suggestions for promoting undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities include:? Universities should attach more importance to undergraduates' sense of gain in the internal governance reform of universities,taking students' development as one of the key goals of the reform;?adhering to the principle of shared development,universities should endeavor to transform the construction results to advantageous resources to the cultivation of talents,so as to grant more "material benefits" to students;?more reasonable mechanism should be constructed in the internal governance reform to prompt undergraduates to participate more actively in the reform;?universities should actively guide students'subjective perception of the reform results and enhance the co-ordination in various areas,including policy design,process optimization,and the publication and application of reform results,so as to avoid inequality or inefficiency;?basing on the research on enhancing students' sense of gain,universities should come up with more specific methods to strengthen students'sense of gain in the internal governance reform.
