A Study On The Impact Of Social Capital On Household Education Expenditure In Urban And Rural Areas

With the family wealth addition,human capital investment be popularization,parents invest more resources in children's education,they also pay more attention to children's extracurricular education training,education spending increasing year by year.Education justice has been studied by sociology and pedagogyy for many years,and it is also the focus of people's livelihood.We want to study the effect of social capital for urban and rural family education expenditure,to explore its special function of education expenditure,in order to have a deeper understanding of the e'ducation resource distribution,and put forward the corresponding suggestion,to implement the education fair.The article makes in-depth research on social capital step by step through literature review,relevant theoretical basic research,and empirical analysis,using the 2014 CFPS database which about family background and expenditure,and Yu Jiandong,s occupational power which measures the family social capital.We are focus on analysis tihe influence' of parents' social capital on the expenditure of education in the families of students from the pre-school education,primary school,middle school and high school.From two aspects of school education and extracurricular education expenditure classification analysis,and through the OLS and TOBIT model correlation analysis and linear regression analysis we get to know the effect of social capital in education expenditure and compare the difference between urban and rural families.According to the research,we have three conclusions.First,social capital of family has a significant negative influence on school education expenditure.Social capital plays a role in family's school education expenditure economically,which can let the owner of social capital enjoy the same or more high-quality education resource with less cost on money.Second,social capital of family has a significant positive influence on extracurricular education expenditure,which don,t have any economic influences on extracurricular education expenditure.With more social capital,families are willing to pay more on extracurricular education.Third,social capital influence on education expenditure difference between urban and rural family,whatever school or extracurricular education.Social capital play more important roles in rural family than urban family.
