China is one of the countries most threatened by natural disasters in the world, and it has become one of the most urgent problems to mitigate the hazards of natural disasters.“The International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction” believes that“education is the core of the disaster reduction plan, and the transfer of knowledge is the key to reducing the success or failure of disasters.”Appropriate education is an important way to reduce the danger of disasters and high school geography courses is a helpful manner to implement disaster education. However, influenced by the changes of high school geography curriculum system and the college entrance examination outline, the course “Prevention and Harness of Natural Disasters”in Geography 5(elective)is less selected by students, which decreases the disaster educational function of high school geography courses. And Geography 1(compulsory)contains rich disaster education content, and it is compulsory for high school students, which is a new position of education in high school geography disaster. Therefore, the implementation of education in Geography 1(compulsory)plays a crucial role in mitigating the disaster. The objective of my research is the disaster education in the PEP edition of Geography textbook 1(compulsory)for it is widely used in Gansu province.Based on the theory of natural disaster science, the theory of geography teaching, the theory of sustainable development and the theory of the hierarchy of needs, this paper studies the implementation of disaster education in “Geography textbook 1”by using the method of literature and experience summary.First, paper teases out the content about the disaster education in Geography textbook 1 and combines with the the theory of natural disasters to divide the natural disasters into 5 types: astronomical disasters, geological disasters, meteorological disasters, marine disasters and biological disasters.Second, according to the theory of natural disasters and geography teaching theory, teaching objectives are designed for the five types of astronomy disasters, geological disasters, meteorological disasters, ocean disasters, and biological disasters, analyze the teaching content, select appropriate teaching methods, and implement disaster education.Last, the analysis of the implementation of different types of disaster education is conducted, and suggestions for the implementation of disaster education in the teaching version of Geography textbook 1 are proposed.Through the above research, the author hopes to put forward to the following suggestions to high school geography teachers on disaster education:(1)Design of teaching objectives: we must implement the requirements of curriculum standards and strengthen disaster prevention capabilities;we must focus on scientific inquiry and cultivate awareness of disasters.(2)The selection of teaching content should be based on the characteristics of disasters, and the contents of disaster education should be selected;local disasters should be emphasized and the pertinence of disaster education should be improved;prevention and control of natural disasters should be strengthened to improve students’ ability to prevent disasters.(3)The selection of teaching methods should be based on the content of disaster education, selecting teaching methods;carrying out practical teaching to improve students’ geographic quality;attaching importance to inquiry learning and promoting students’ thinking development.
