Research On The Influence Of The Uncertainty Of Floating Population On Its Consumption

For a long time,China's economic growth has relied heavily on exports,investment surplus but consumption lacks,which has constrained the transformation and upgrading of China's economic development.It is of great strategic importance to vigorously promote urbanization of population to drive consumer demand for residents,which can reverse the situation that China's economic growth relies heavily on investment and exports,and promote the sustained and steady growth of China's economy.Since the reform and opening up,a large number of floating population has continued to flood into cities.According to the 2017 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Communique issued by the National Bureau of Statistics,the total number of floating population in China in 2017 was 244 million.By the end of 2017,the urbanization rate has climbed to about 58.52%.However,the actual urbanization rate calculated according to the registered population is only 42.35%.The market regulation of labor mobility tends to relax,but the lag in the reform of the household registration system makes the flow of rural population to cities more of a mere flow of labor.The floating population's working in cities is very mobile and their income is very unstable.Because of the imperfect social security system,migrants need to bear most of their own living expenses,especially save for various kinds of life risks they face,such as old-age care and medical care,resulting in their high preventive saving motives and suppressing their current consumption.The urbanization in our country that is not synchronized with economic and demographic structure is not comprehensive,which restricts the advancement of China's economic transformation and upgrading,and greatly reduces the stimulating effect on the consumption of migrants at the same time.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to better understand how uncertainty affects the floating population's consumption behavior.This paper studies the causes of the uncertainty of the income of the floating population and how these uncertainties affect their family consumption behavior.From the angle of income uncertainty,this paper analyzes the consumption decision made by this special group of floating population in the face of uncertainty in the future.Which has direct reference and theoretical and practical significance in promoting the process of urbanization scientifically and promoting the steady economic and social development under the new normal state.
