The ideological and political work in colleges and universities is an important part of university management,and it is a fundamental action to run a well-established Chinese university.It is a necessary way to realize the important goal of high moral values establishment and people cultivation of the university.Moreover,college students and counselors as the two main actors in the process of ideological and political work in colleges and universities,the state of the relationship between them will directly affect the effect of the implementation of ideological and political work in colleges and universities,as well as the improvement of college students' ideological and moral cultivation and college counselors,and it will eventually affect the development of higher education in China.Compared with the teacher-student relationship in other education stages,the public lack the attention to the relationship between local undergraduate college students and counselors,with the appearance of some related negative news,the public have gradually turned their attention to this special relationship between teachers and students in colleges and universities.Therefore,this study was based on the principle of from reality,and selected Henan University as a sample college.Under the premise of respecting objective facts,analysis and research the current situation of undergraduate college students and counselors in the local universities,explore some existing problems and put forward corresponding countermeasures against the results of the analysis of the problems.On the basis of consulting a large amount of related literature,this study compiled a < Questionnaire about the Current Relationship between College Students and Counselors in Local Universities>,which was based on objective reality,and conducted a questionnaire survey of 1600 college students in Henan University to explore out the current college students' cognition of their relationship with counselors in the four dimensions of intimacy,comprehension,contradiction and expectation,and their ideas and suggestions for improving the relationship between local undergraduate college students and counselors.At the same time,depth interviews were also conducted with 12 undergraduate students to gain a deeper understanding of the students' real feelings about their relationship with counselors and their different opinions on how to improve their relationship.Finally,the following research results were obtained:Firstly,the relationship between undergraduate college students and counselors generally is in a good state,which gains the highest score in expectation dimension particularly,and a higher score in comprehension and contradiction dimensions,and a lowest score in intimacy dimension,this shows that the current relationship between undergraduate college students and counselors has not yet reached a relationship between teachers and students that is full of trust and believe.However,most students are able to in a rational perspective to objectively evaluate their counselors and understand the nature of the counselors' work.Regarding to counselor's shortcomings,they will have an understanding and inclusive attitude,and a mentality of looking to improve and with not much demanding.Secondly,the current local undergraduate college students have a different valuation on the relationship between themselves and counselors.From the gender,girls' evaluation of their relationship with counselors is better than that of male students in comprehension,contradiction and expectation this three dimensions.Male students' evaluation is better than that of girl students in intimacy dimension,and there existing a big difference evaluation between male students and girl students in intimacy dimension.From the perspective of their majors,students of literature and history score higher in the four dimensions of intimacy,comprehension,contradiction and expectation than those of science and engineering students,and the level of difference is significant between them in intimacy and comprehension dimension.From the view of grade,different grades students' performance is different in this four dimensions.Overall,freshman's evaluation of the relationship between them and the counselors is best,followed by seniors students;Junior students' evaluation of the relationship between them and the counselors is the worst,followed by sophomore students.From the point of whether they are only children in their family,the scores of the only child in the intimacy,comprehension and expectation dimensions are higher than those of the non-only child.In the contradictory dimension,the score of the only child is higher than that of the non-only child,and the differences of both in the four dimensions are not significant.Therefore,the relationship between the only child and the counselor is better than the relationship between the non-only child and the counselor.From the perspective of students,the relationship between urban college students and counselors is slightly better than that of rural college students and counselors.The differences are very significant in the intimacy dimension.There are significant differences in understanding and contradiction dimensions,and there is no significant difference in the expectation dimension;From the view of whether they are cadres,the relationship between the student cadre and the counselor is better than that of the non-college cadre and the counselor,and there are extremely significant differences in the four dimensions between the two.Lastly,in addition to the difference of the relationship between college students and counselors in local universities from the mentioned above.Overall,passivization,desertification,and contradiction are the main problems in the relationship between college students and counselors in local undergraduate colleges and universities.Through the analysis of the collected survey data,it was found that most students did not achieve a satisfactory status for the current status of the relationship between undergraduate college students and counselors,and they proposed their own ideas and hopes in the open-ended items of the questionnaire and in the interview process.For the results of the study,and based on the relevant theoretical basis,this study puts forward specific suggestions from the three levels of universities,counselors and students.From the countermeasure which was proposed on these three levels will have a certain inspirational role for both the colleges and universities administrators and counselors and students,prompting them to think,reflect and adjust their behavior in interpersonal relationship,so as to promote the development of the current relationship between undergraduate college students and counselors towards to a better state.
